The holidays are brutal for a lot of our neighbors. Maybe the ink is fresh on your divorce papers, maybe there’s a newly empty seat at the table this year. Some of you are waiting for a call, waiting for a check, waiting for a diagnosis, waiting for a sign, waiting for reconciliation. The story of Christmas is as old as time, but oh so relevant today: Emanuel— God is with us. This season, wherever you are, we are leaving a light on for you. Our sweet Shoe Co. got a new dress for the holidays, courtesy of our parent company . We might love all things old and repurposed and nostalgic, but this space can adapt to so many different looks, and it’s fun to play around with the possibilities! Grateful for the always delicious catering from and the always beautiful photos from 🎄 👞

Wooden shoe lasts were used by manufacturers to make a form of the human foot, allowing them to create different sizes of shoes based on the mold. Most of these lasts were kindly gifted to us by the current owners of the Badorf Shoe Co., and were the originals used here at the Lincoln facility starting almost 100 years ago. We feel grateful to pay homage to the industriousness that helped make the amazing place it is today. 👞 ( 📷 )

The health of any community is dependent on its helpers. They are often behind the scenes— the last ones out with tired feet and sore backs. They don’t always get the “sexy” jobs, but they are the ones keeping the trains on the track, and we’d be sunk without them. We are thankful for organizations like , who serves and supports local students and educators with passion, empathy, and imagination. The world is a better place because people like you are in it. We want to be like you when we grow up. ♥️

We were lucky enough to spend the week in @durhamnc (OBSESSED by the way) with @hustleandgather for their premier Venue Master Class. When we’re tempted to feel overwhelmed with all the things we still have to learn (🤯), we are encouraged to remember that our little old lady Shoe Co. is built on the good stuff— creativity, love for our neighbors, accessible and beautiful spaces to gather, and a commitment to not taking ourselves too seriously. Looking for something different for your next corporate party or meeting? We have got you covered! We can provide just the space— easy peasy. But because our parent company is @strayproductionservices , we can also provide all your audio, video, lighting, design, and coordination needs. For this recent event for @rocklititz , we contracted catering and bar service, sourced linens and created tablescapes, coordinated overall room design and layout, ordered guest favors, and provided video and audio needs. When I was a little girl, my family would go down to the local volunteer fire company, where my dad served as Chief for many years. We would sing the Star Spangler Banner in the stairwell; the acoustics were so cool. When we bought this old building, one of the first things I wanted to do was rally the troops to sing it again—echoes reminding me not just of the stories these walls have seen, but the songs from my own childhood. We are a little rusty after 25 years, but not bad for a first run though. 😉 Oh America, you’re a hot mess right now, going through those awkward, angsty preteen years. But we see what you can grow into, and we choose to believe that these are not the pains of death, but the pains of childbirth. We can’t wait to see what we can build together. God bless the USA! 🇺🇸

These custom French sliding doors—3 beautiful sets of them off the main event space!—-might be one of our favorite things! When they are open, your guests have access to a spacious buffet line area (wait till you see the lighting in here! 😍). When they are closed, the frosted door glass allows privacy for the caterers to pack up and clean up, without interrupting the rest of the party. Kinda smart, huh?
