Double shoutout, first to Mickey Marquez. Rudolph’s Revenge was his first race. Unfortunately he sheered off the crank bolt and as you can see in the video he was left stranded.
But that’s not the end of his Story! Mickey showed incredible persistence and problem solving. He walked back to the start, checked in as a DNF, went to Denton and Velo Republic fixed the crank. He came back and set out again 2 hours later and finished the whole race before the 6 hour cutoff.
Second shoutout to the, man, myth and legend Fausto “Mr Fingers” Pesina who filmed this video. Fausto was checking in on stopped riders and still went on to finish the full 30 miles. He tried to get out of finishing by offering his bike to those stranded riders but nobody took the bait.
Way to finish Mickey and Fausto!
After 3 very full workdays, 30+ trail volunteers, 200+ volunteer hours and over 75 hours of chainsaws Isle du Bois Trail DORBA has had all downed trees cleared on all loops. This is NOT saying it’s open for use yet.
We should have trail steward and parks staff going to do some inspections over the next few days to mark any additional trees that need to be addressed and eventually give the green light to reopen all loops. That’s at their discretion, but we have definitely done our part to get things cleared for a reopening.
There’s a lot of people and groups to thank for all the hard work. DORBA - Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association for holding the MOA with the state park that grants us access to do trail work. Blaze Trails Running for sending a great group of volunteers to assist. Scott and Lisa Hite and David Starr for the countless hours of leadership as trail stewards. The Texas State Parks staff at IDB for getting our volunteers certified to help. Plus too many individuals to list that showed up to lend manpower.
It’s been a biiiiig 2 weeks of trail work. Thanks everyone that participated.
Don’t miss registration for this Sundays XC race at the DORBA - Dallas Off-Road Bicycle Association MTB Festival.
Registration is online only and the course is phenomenal! With rolling hills, challenging rock gardens and great flow it’s one of the best race courses in the area.

The first (definitely not last!) DFW Series Hot Dog Eating Contest brought to us by our Summer Series Title Sponsor Sun & Ski Sports!
Congratulations to Alex Shuster for finishing 5 hotdogs in roughly 3 minutes to take the win. Adam Grisz came in second with 5 hot dogs in exactly to the dot 5 minutes.
They will each get their choice of a Rudolph’s Revenge entry or a full series entry for our next series race.
Pre-Registration discounts are available until midnight for this week's Race #2 of the DFW Summer Series presented by @sunandskisports.
We know, given the recent weather it's hard to commit to that registration in advance. We've had so much rain and so many cancellations over the past 3 months. But the DFW Series has a SOLID rain-guarantee. If it rains out we move your entry to the next date automatically, if you can't make it just let us know another date that will work OR send us a request for a refund.
Because weather is such a question mark, we aren't pushing our marketing very hard right now. When we do get some good weather and a green light to race please give us a hand and help let people know. When you share our events it helps reach more people who would love to race bikes with us.
