Thank you to everyone who has helped our family during this difficult time. From those of you who have rearranged your schedules, helped with chores, provided emotional support, or just a shoulder to cry on; thank you. It will take a long time to heal and feel normal again but Sheila made significant impact on a lot of people. Lastly thank you to three young ladies who came for alumni camp and a fun weekend but ended up supporting their coach. Midnight you were a one of a kind. You taught me to look deeper for the problem right up until the end. Your high pitched response when I called your name and your fun jumping style will be so missed. You made us laugh, loved your bread, and seemed to find your groove with dressage and drill team. Thank you for your always try attitude even when it just wasn’t your thing.

What a fun day at Houghton’s opening show of the season! These horses and riders gave their all and had a great day! It was cold and windy and one horse tried to stay at the show but I couldn’t be prouder of every student who was at the show!

Today is the Houghton University 1 day giving challenge and we would love your help in raising funds for some upgrades at the Equestrian Center! 

We are hoping to raise $55,000 to upgrade our outdoor dressage and jumping arena base and footing. This important project involves taking the arena down to its base, fixing drainage issues, and leveling the footing to ensure the arena is back in great shape and can support top-quality riding and competition moving forward. Our goal is to have the funding in place by Friday, April 19, so the work can be completed ahead of our summer season of shows and camps (work is tentatively scheduled for the week of May 13th).  

A huge thank you to an anonymous donor for kicking off this fundraiser with a generous $30,000 donation!  What a blessing it would be if all our HU Equestrian friends come along side and help us raise the remaining $25,000!

His deep baritone warm blood type whinny will be missed. RW was one of the boys here from the beginning of my program. The last several years he got to live out his retirement being a happy friend to his night herd. He had a huge heart and a big try. Swimming was one of his favorite past times and he was the best friend any teenage girl could ever ask for. Another crack in our hearts but a fondness that will never be forgotten.

The post Christmas hangover got dusted off today as these girls rode to a successful finish to their regular season. Thank you to RGB for hosting such a wonderful show and as always the AWESOME horses who carry these kids ride after ride. Zones qualifiers of test and equitation rides for Tèa, Brenna, Sierra and Abby K. Representing the team, who also qualified, are Tèa, Brenna, Sierra, Abigail P., and Abby K. I asked you to rise to every challenge and I am so proud of you! This coach can’t wait for each of you to peak because I know you’ve got more to give.
