Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce presented the Heritage Park and Gardens' board with the award for Non-profit business of the year. We are proud to serve our community.

Heritage parking Gardens began with a vision. Two local businessmen Daniel Crapps and Ronnie Pool and and then Suwanee Park's recreation director Greg Scott had a vision to turn a historic home into a park that was unique to our community. The nonprofit friends of Heritage Park and gardens board was formed to make that Vision a reality. They went to work developing Partnerships with Suwannee Parks and recreation, UF IFAS, the Garden Club, the Live Oak artist Guild and others secure grant funding to purchese the property and develop the plan to make it into something truly special . The friends of Heritage Park and garden are responsible for operateing and maintaining the park. They are also the Visionaries for continued development . With the support of the Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners, the City of Live Oak, Suwannee Parks and Recreation,the Live Oak CRA and generous business and private donors, the park has grown. The park now includes a renowned disc golf course, the Donald Levin Burch Jr Memorial Pavilion, the Don Allen Cultural Center, the John Yulee Veterans Pavilion, the Rotary Peace Garden, Kiwanis' Moonlight Garden, Altrusa of Live Oak's Betsy's Garden and the UF IFAS Wildlife Garden. Enduring three hurricanes in 13 months left the park tattered and torn. The friends of Heritage parking Gardens are committed to working diligently to get her back to her glory so the park can continue to be a park for all people sharing in their most precious memories. We are honored to be included in Suwannee counrty tourism videos and Economic Development efforts. The friends of Heritage Park and garden are sincerely thankful to the Chamber of Commerce for honoring us as one of the finalists for non-profit organization of year

Live Oak Heritage Park & Gardens was able to honor our Keepers of the Park and Volunteers today at a luncheon under our pavilion. Heritage Park and Gardens would not exist if it wasn't for our Keepers and volunteers. All donations, financial and in-kind, keep us running so the community can enjoy the venue year round. First Federal Bank donated lunch which was catered by 11th Street Kitchen catered the event.

Today, at Heritage Park, Kiwanas hosted their dedication ceremony of their new donated garden called the Moonlight Garden.

Recognize guests, Patricia Hatch, Lt Govenor of Florida Kiwanis, Tina Santillo, President of Lake Region Kiwanis.

Danny Hales thanked everyone involved with creation and installation of garden.
Susan Bell spoke on the design of the moonlight Garden.
Jason Furry, Director of Parks and Rec, spoke about partnerships with the park and different groups of volunteers.

On Thursday, January 18th, Live Oak Heritage Park & Gardens hosted the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the grand opening of the Don Allen Cultural Center. Many of Mr Allen's family members were in attendance, along with the Heritage Park Board, city and county officials, the Chamber of Commerce, and community members. Immediately following the cutting, the first Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce mix and mingle of the year was held in the center. Thank you to First Federal Bank for sponsoring the food for the event and to the Brown Lantern for sponsoring refreshments. We would also like to give thanks to the culinary department at RIVEROAK Technical College for making the amazing food we all enjoyed.
