Well the first annual HollerGirl Music Festival has come to a close.
There are no words to describe the gratitude, love and support I feel.
Not only did we have 2 unbelievable days/nights of female lead music but we raised not only funds but awareness for Greenhouse17!
To the artists, without you we could not have generated the interest we got for this baby fest. You all rocked it so hard and I am forever grateful!
To the guests, I am so thankful for you ALL! I am so happy there was a good time had!!
To those that helped me through this, OMG. WITHOUT YOU, I WOULD HAVE LOST MY MIND! but I didn't and neither did you! BTW, we need more cups. 🤣🤣
As a result of the feedback for this year, there WILL be a HollerGirl 2023!! Keep your eyes open!! See you then! 😘

A win for survivors!! 🥳
Amendments to Kentucky laws related to domestic and personal orders of protection now include pets!

Coercion, control, or revenge directed against a pet to control a spouse or dating partner is considered domestic violence. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reports more than two-thirds of victims in emergency shelters say their batterer had harmed family pets for revenge or to emotionally control them.

Our community shows amazing support for survivors and their pets. The Lexington Humane Society provides free examinations and vaccinations for every animal that lives with us, and our friends at the Chevy Chase Animal Clinic often provide medical care for animals with injuries from abuse.

The Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition partners with Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control to bring attention to the connection between animal abuse and intimate partner violence.

We are so thankful to everyone showing support to survivors and their pets! And now both survivors and their pets have the legal rights they deserve!!

Women that stick together can do so much more than those that work against. Before HollerGirl Music Festival ever was a thought, the concept behind it was a passion.
My grandmother was a survivor of domestic violence. She survived the best she could during a very different time. She suffered so many emotional scars until the day she passed. I am also a survivor of domestic violence and abuse. Physical is awful, but the emotional abuse hurts forever. The "power" that the abusers think they have is manifested so deep down that they believe that it is truth. That they have the ability to break you. Sometimes they do. I was certainly broken. Healing is hard but possible.
With HollerGirl, now more than ever, it is my mission to bring the women forward, make them seen and heard. Taking it a step farther and partnering with a place that helps the healing process. I can't even really put into words what this means to me. TOGETHER we will be the force. And I also mean the amazing men that are as passionate as I am.
Next weekend will be one that is full of incredible music, art, food, fun, families, camping, campfires, togetherness and strength! I can't wait for HollerGirl Music Festival and I cannot wait to see all of ypu beautiful people there!
