Good morning. I'm struggling to write a post because I'm overwhelmed with work stress. Which then the financial side of things is affected. However, I mentioned yesterday to share stories. And I plan to each Wednesday.
Growing up, my family attended Calvary Reformed Church in Illinois. My dad was a deacon & mom was a Sunday school teacher. We attended every week & Wednesdays for the boys group called Cadets. Cadets is similar to Boy Scouts but Faith based. We had merit badges & lessons, gym nights & it was very structured. We had uniforms & we sang a song at the end of each Wednesday night, "Living For Jesus". Man, as I type this I am brought back to this fun & critical time of my life. We had so much fun. My dad was my counselor & he was one of the lead counselors who who set up the "mess hall" on our camping trips with hanging a large white tarp between 2 tall trees, and swooping the edges out to ultimately form a protected are for the tables to cook & serve all the Cadets their meals. I loved watching him and how he used ordinary materials to construct a gathering area on these trips.
As I got older I used this knowledge and hosted large gatherings for all my friends. However, it wasn't to serve Jesus. It was to serve myself & friends. Because at this time in my life, I had walked away from the church when I got out of high school. I carried this lifestyle for many years.
To be continued....
