We have been working really hard to get this little vegetable garden cleaned up, updated and ready for planting. We still have a lot of work to do.

I've been using these grow bags for 4 years now and it's time to replace them. I decided to go with the galvanized metal. Our oldest son managed to get two put together today, while our other two kids and I did some serious weeding. But clearly we aren't done lol

We've had a lot of trees and things to prune, so I decided to reuse the cuttings by creating some arches leading into the garden. They are a work in progress but so far I'm loving them!

Every time we prune something or cut something down, I plan on using the cuttings around the property to make all kinds of things and I'm really looking forward to it.

Went on a little day trip with the arm candy and we found an amazing antique/thrift/junk store/property up in Placerville. The owner was the NICEST lady and next time we go (there WILL be a next time) we're taking the truck lol

People tell me all the time when it comes to decorating "I have a gift" or an "Eye for it" or I'm "A natural" I'm not mentioning this as some sort of brag because the fact is, I've WORKED HARD to improve at decorating. I read books, blogs, magazines, I've taken classes on interior design, I watch countless videos and have one of the most insane Pinterest accounts I've ever seen lol My point is, I'm not lucky or gifted, I'm DETERMINED. It's something I WANT to be good at. I've come a LONG way as you can see from the pictures. It took so much more work than you can imagine to constantly be changing my decor but seeing how far I've come shows the work is paying off.

I LOVE a good simmer pot. Always have. What I don't love is remembering to check on it constantly throughout the day and make sure I'm not going to accidentally burn the house down. I've got enough problems I don't need that too lol

A much safer way to have a simmer pot going is with a candle warmer! It works so well and allows me to enjoy the scents and benefits of a simmer pot on the stove, while being safer for a busy and forgetful person like me. I'm also thinking a coffee mug warmer would also work. I haven't tried it yet, but I have one so maybe I can give that a little test and report back.

This little simmer pot has lemon, orange, clove and cinnamon 🍋

I have to say, this was one of my favorite Valentine's day creations ❤️

I made it from a water damaged book someone was throwing away. I cut the pages into squares about 3×3 (but it doesn't have to be exact) I just kind of crumpled them up and hot glued them onto a cardboard heart shape I cut out of an empty cereal box.

It was SO easy. Added a cute bow and glued some wire onto the back for hanging and it was ready to go!

I made several variations of this over the years because it was just so inexpensive and easy! One book goes a LONG way too!

Here's a little info about things to come that I shared on my personal page a few days ago....

As the new year pushes forward, I wanted to take a moment and share with you all some life/work updates for the new year. Up until this point, we have only offered the things we grow and sell to friends and family. Well this year, we're changing that 🌱❤️
(I will still be sharing lots of decorating/crafting/floral designs etc. That will never change.)

As most of you know, I have been a self employed florist for many years now. I have had a lot of success and fun along the way, making new friends and memories that will no doubt last a lifetime. However, moving forward, I will no longer be doing wedding or funeral flowers UNLESS you are a close friend or family member. It has become increasingly difficult to work with people who don't value my time or experience. Wedding work especially has been very stressful at times and I'm at an age where I will no longer tolerate being treated as "less than".

That being said, I'm really excited about things we have in the works for the future. I mentioned several months ago that we were going to have a more permanent area for our eggs, produce and flower sales increasing what we offer. We have decided to add many of the things we've been making for our own family to our "farm stand" for you to purchase and enjoy. We want this to be a quaint little place in the country for people to get high quality farm fresh produce as well as infused oils, tinctures, extracts, dried herbs, teas, seasonal decor, smudge sticks, homemade candles, occasional baked goods and more!

This is the first time in a long time I'm actually excited about something, and I really can't wait to see it come to fruition. Not being able to do wedding work has forced me to look at things more clearly and realize I was not happy with the work I was doing. It was draining me in every way possible. That means it's time to make a change and do something that fulfills me as well as provide much needed income for our family as we work towards demolishing our home and rebuilding a new one.

If you would like to stay informed as to the progress of our farm stand, and think it's something you would like to support, I have started a group within this page that I would be happy to share with you.

The Country Cabinet Farm Stand coming soon ✌🏼❤️

A few weeks ago I bought 4 of the red, waxed amaryllis bulbs from Trader Joe's

I decided to put them all in this old copper bowl I have and add a few ornaments and a bow to make a very simple centerpiece for Christmas and New Year's. Now that they are all in bloom it looks spectacular!!

Such an easy and affordable way to create a stunning centerpiece.

As an added bonus, since these are waxed covered, no watering is required! Couldn't be easier.

The only thing worse than fluffing faux Christmas trees, is defluffing (new word) them and having to force them back into their boxes or storage bags. Hate, hate, hate, double hate, loathe entirely!! *In my Grinch voice obviously.

Did you already take down Christmas or are you like me and wait? I like to do it on New Year's day. I feel like getting everything clean and organized is a great way to start a new year.
