Aloha.
First of all, mahalo for your kokua. Because of you, in the past few days, so many 40’ containers were filled (at least 10, if not more) for the folks in Maui.
WAY MORE than initially anticipated.
That said, we JUST received word from ILWU to hold off on bringing any more items.
Do not worry. For those of you that spent time and effort to collect and don’t have a space to store it, we will still accept essential items tomorrow and Wednesday as promised. We do ask, though, that you refrain from collecting anymore at this time.
We rented a storage space to keep these items safe and will be working with ILWU and other organizations to get them shipped to where they are needed most.
We also want to be cognizant and avoid overcrowding the port by bombarding them at once, so we will continue paying attention to what the boots on the ground are saying.
Again, the outpour of aloha you have shown the folks of Maui is beyond amazing. We are so proud of you all. This recovery will take time, and we know we will continue to do what’s necessary to help our ohana.
Lastly, folks of International Longshore and Warehouse Union - ILWU, you have shown us that nothing is impossible to achieve with hard work, commitment, and dedication. Thank you so much for being a great role model to us all.
Mahal nui Loa. 🙏🏼🌺
