Originally from Central Florida, Mikey now lives in Astoria, New York with her wife and her dog, Pig. She got her first camera at the age of three and hasn’t stopped shooting since. In her free time she develops her film at home in her makeshift darkroom, and sells handmade lavender stuffed animals. Mikey's work has been featured in Vogue, Nylon, Domino, Cools, Bustle, Spotify, Buzzfeed, The NY Post and in Red Magazine.

In preparation for their big move across the country, Ally reached out wanting to document the locations in the city that mean the most to her and her family. For our first session we started in their apartment in Astoria! We wanted to show a true day-in-the-life at home which meant nap time, snack time, and most importantly, play time. This isn’t the last you’ll see from this session! So many sweet little moments still to share🥰

The type of morning you never forget, I still can’t believe this is what I get to do for a living. I got the call at 4am that Sila’s water broke (a call I had been looking forward to for nearly four months). I made it to their home as the sun was coming up and 20 minutes later baby Mina was in Sila’s arms. Getting to witness a birth is incredible, but getting see all the extra little parts of the day (their second child not leaving Sila’s side for a moment, their eldest running into her room to color a picture for her new baby sister the moment she was born) made it so magical. It was one of those moments that reminds me how lucky I am that people invite me into their homes and trust me to document such intimate parts of their lives over and over again.
