Why we don’t recommend this. . . ⁣

Yesterday, we talked about why you should not, under any circumstances, put your wedding party on dog duty for your wedding. Today, we’re chatting a little more in depth about why putting them on dog duty for the ceremony is not the best idea (in most situations). ⁣
⁣
While we know everyone in your party is crazy obsessed with your dog, the responsibility of watching a dog during the ceremony, specifically, utilizes 100% of our attention. ⁣
⁣
We would absolutely hate for your wedding party to miss a single moment of you saying “I do” because they were tuning in to your dogs’ needs, either by giving them attention, treats, or having to walk them away! ⁣
⁣
This doesn’t mean that your wedding party and your doggo cannot interact on wedding day! A few of our favorite wedding party/doggo moments include: ⁣
⁣
1. Capturing all the photos together ⁣
2. Having your wedding party walk your dog down the aisle (if they want to and have had ample notice that this is the plan lol) and then hand them over to us! ⁣
3. Having your wedding party sit in the front row, next to your dog and pet attendant so they can volunteer lovin’ but aren’t responsible for their behavior ⁣
⁣
There are so many ways for your wedding party to have fun with your dog on your wedding day without bearing any of the responsibility. ⁣
⁣
Now, we will say that we are always, always on standby in the event you’d like to have your wedding party hold your dog at the altar. And we will form plan A-Z to ensure we have backups, as needed. At the end of the day, this is your vision, and we are here to support you and your dog, fully! ⁣⁣⁣⁣

If you’ve had the pleasure of working with Zach, then your guests have probably mistaken him as a member of the wedding party or a long lost cousin 😅 He truly just blends in so effortlessly, and is a hoot at cocktail hour. ⁣
⁣
Zach has always been a lover of dogs, but that got kicked up a gear when he met his now fiancé (and owner of PTP), Hollie 😜 ⁣
⁣
While he’s incredibly busy building both his handyman and general contracting businesses, in his free time, Zach enjoys getting out in the field with his bird dog, Koda, fly fishing, tinkering with things and just generally having a jolly time. ⁣

We are beyond grateful for when he’s able to jump in and lend a helping hand, and if you have a hunting dog and Zach is free, we’re more than likely sending him 🤗🎉⁣

We’ve all heard this saying before, and as someone who grew up with the mentality “if you want something done right, do it yourself,” I can personally attest to how incredible it is to have a team of people who you can lean on. ⁣

As more couples decide they simply cannot say “I do” without their furry fam by their side, the demand for professional, qualified pet attendants is on the rise 🤍⁣

What started with just myself one year ago has grown into the most incredible team of pet attendants you will ever meet. We have a team of 12 in Colorado that is continuously growing, as well as teams in both Michigan and New York, with opportunities for expansion coming soon 😉 ⁣

One of the most common questions I get asked on the connection calls is “will it be you helping with ____ on our wedding?” and the answer to that question is typically, it depends, but you will know about a month before your big day once our internal schedules are solidified 🫶⁣

We just booked out SEVENTIETH wedding of 2023. Needless to say, I (Hollie) cannot physically be in all of those places. Instead of having to turn down requests, I hired a team of phenomenal humans who are just as capable and downright stoked to help you include your best buds in your special day. 🐶⁣

Of course, if you want your dogs there for all of it, we’re not going to stop you, and we will make it happen and be your biggest cheerleader. This is your vision, and we’re here to support you however we can. ⁣

At the end of the day, you know what kind of vibe you want to set for your first look, and only you know if having your dog there is going to be distracting ✨ ⁣

We know it’s super common for pups to jump when they get excited, and in a new environment surrounded by all of their favorite people, there will be no shortage of excitement 🎉⁣

While this might be cute at home (only sometimes), keeping your pups off of guests is one of our top priorities when walking them around cocktail hour. ⁣
⁣
Not only are we tuned in to your pups’ every move, we are a team of dog owners, walkers and sitters, and we are completely accustomed to anticipating this behavior. Read: we know when your pup is about to jump on someone, and we will keep them close by 😌⁣

During our connection call, we discuss their regular behavior as well as how they act in large crowds. If they’re bound to jump on people no matter what, fret not! We can simply adjust the timeline so that they spend more time with you and less time in the midst of cocktail hour craziness ❤️⁣

So important I’m sharing it twice ❣️⁣
⁣
Going from 8 weddings and one person to 50+ weddings, 3 states and a team of associates, I’ve learned a LOT during this short one year journey. ⁣
⁣
Which is pretty darn exciting because I get to use these learning experiences as an opportunity to provide you with everything you could ever need to make including your dog in your wedding a seamless experience for all. ⁣
⁣
A recurring lesson I will not be learning again is making sure everyone knows the departure time of your beloved doggo and working with your vendors to ensure their time is maximized. ⁣
⁣
One of the best ways to ensure we don’t go over the contracted timeline is to ask your photographer to capture photos of your dog first. ⁣
⁣
I’ve seen it time and time again where family photos are scheduled first and we are waiting on standby to jump in when needed. This means we are not at cocktail hour and not using our time effectively. Next thing you know, it is time for your doggy to depart and we didn’t get to make the rounds at cocktail hour. ⁣
⁣
Ok fine this actually has not once happened because I refuse to take that experience away from your guests, but the consequence is staying upwards of 1.5 hours beyond the contracted time. As much as I love your dog and the cocktail hour energy, this can’t be happening 🙃⁣
⁣
I’ve found that the best way to ensure this doesn’t happen is to simply ask your photographer to prioritize photos with your pup. Then, while you’re taking the rest of your stunning photos with all your favorite people, we will have time to mingle with your guests at cocktail hour with plenty of time to swing back around to say goodnight before departing for the evening. It’s a win-win for everyone!
