We love a good fennel recipe, but let's keep things simple this fall. Roast the bulb with balsamic vinegar and carrots to create a yummy sweet and savory side dish or roughly chop the stalk leaves and add to a salad for a celery-meets-licorice flavor.

Not only does it have a calming scent but is a wonderful addition to recipes. Add to a cocktail, tarte or in a cookie recipe.

It’s finally hot enough out for peppers, and the first out of the gate is our favorite: Shish*tos. While many of our pepper are heirloom European and South American varieties, these hail from Japan. The name, “Shish*to,” comes from the tip of the pepper (Tōgarashi) looking like the head of a lion (shishi). A mild pepper, one in twenty has a hot kick, making this appetizer a fun game of Russian roulette. ⁠⠀

Because of their thin skin, these peppers are perfect for tossing on the grill. You can also sauté them in olive oil until they blister and char and then serve them whole with nothing more than flaky salt and pepper. ⁠⠀

Fava beans are a delicious addition to a meal. We love them gently sauteed as a tasty side or added on top a Ceaser Salad for a surprising burst of flavor that pairs perfectly with parmesan.
