Farmette Flowers is a seasonal, organic flower farm and full-service floral design studio located at the Treehouse Farm Collective in Boulder, Colorado. Run by Helen Skiba, a Colorado native, and a team of young farmers, Farmette Flowers specializes in hard-to-find, unusual, and delicate varieties. We grow a wide array of colors, species, and cultivars, and we love making unique, seasonally-inspi

red arrangements. Our amazing blooms are available to local weddings, florists, and to our flower share members. We can also take special orders for your dinner table, birthdays, or other special events.

When we were creating for our last big wedding of the year, and before we brought our daughter home, everyone pitched in to help, including , , and . Nelson’s dad, Peter, baked this amazing and truly Dutch apple pie and we all had some while designing - and as you can see, the pie went really well with the flowers. Thanks so much to our community for helping us through this season, which has been a trial by fire for sure 🧡

We weren’t sure what kind of dahlia year we would have, but it’s been pretty great! We’ll have bunches for sale in the farm stand, and we hope to offer some tubers in the winter. The variety featured is ‘Tempest’ which is an indescribable coral 🪸

Sometimes a crop surprises you! I was ready to tear these strawflower out weeks ago when their first flush was over, but we just didn’t get to it, and now they’re sending up some great new stems. We’ve been fertigating the whole field with compost tea and simple all-purpose amendments, so I think that’s helped them pull through this hot dry summer. How are your crops doing? Any good surprises?

When zinnias are good, they’re great! We love the long stems we’re getting and that the grasshoppers haven’t quite discovered them yet. This apricot/peachy mix we’re trialing for a beloved seed company is turning heads 💃 Do you have a favorite zinnia?

Every year we grow a cascading sunflower jungle, and it fills me with joy. We direct-sow starting around week 14, 6 weeks before our last frost, and keep planting weekly through Week 30 or 32, depending on … gut feelings? We mostly plant ProCut varieties, but I have a soft spot for Copper Queen and some other weirdos ;) How do you grow your sunnies?

We grow a really fun variety of gaillardia called ‘Lorenziana’. I first heard about it from , and it’s a double! Very unusual & fluffy; florists seem to love it. I first got seed from , but I don’t know who the original breeder might be. Do you grow any gaillardia/blanket flower?

It’s herb season here on the farm! We grow lots of tough herbs as cuts and filler - monarda lemon mint, apple mint, lemon balm, mountain mint, wild marjoram, and oregano are a few of our favorites for summer foliage. What about you??

We harvested some of our ornamental wheat today - this one is called Silver Tip. We also grow Black Eagle but I let that one get really black before we harvest. This crop is great for w**d suppression and for fall wreaths, or for country summer weddings. Do you grow any wheat for cuts? For food? For fun?
