Thank you for everyone who came out for the event today for Carols & Cocoa. What a crowd! We had over 130 people who attended the tour, reception, blessing, tree lighting and carol signing. And the weather was beautiful with that cool winter breeze rolling in. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! We hope you enjoyed the event.

Longwood's founder, Edward Warren Henck, first arrived at the future town site in 1873, after walking 15 miles from Sanford to his homestead claim. Henck built the railroad between Sanford and Orlando in 1880. It was the first railroad constructed in Florida after the Civil War. It did not connect to any other rail lines, so you disembarked by steamship at the wharf in Sanford and walked to the rail station. Learn more at Carols & Cocoa this afternoon.

The ladies have been busy decorating for the holidays! Thanks to Deb, Pamm, and Suzy for brightening up the Historic Civic Center. And thank you to Marla, Kathy, and Linda for making the Bradlee-McIntyre House so beautiful. Join us next week for Carols & Cocoa (November 30), and grab an appointment for 7-Foot Santa in December to get photos with the big guy.

Carols & Cocoa is one of my favorite events of the year! It is coming up on November 30th. We will have a historic OPEN HOUSE walking tour, where we go inside several buildings and learn about their history. Then we will have a hot cocoa, apple cider, and pastry reception. Finally, we'll end the evening with a holiday blessing, tree lighting ceremony, and singing carols around the large city tree on CR 427. Please put it on your calendar!

It was our honor to host you all this past weekend for our 7th annual Longwood Monster Dash Presented by Waste Pro. You all brought fabulous costumes, uplifting spirits, big smiles, and athletic prowess! Seeing the community come together and folks of all generations is just magical for me.

We are thankful for our outstanding City Commissioners in the City of Longwood, FL. They don't always agree, but they are always civil and productive. They partner and support each other. Each of them cares deeply for our city and its people. They have EACH been immensely supportive of the Longwood Historic Society for years now. THANK YOU to Tony Boni, Matt Morgan, Abby K. Shoemaker, Matthew McMillan, and Brian Sackett for everything that you do for us and for our community!

Just 3 days away!! It's going to be a blast!
Don't miss out on our guided walking tour of the Historic District Saturday at 12 PM! Our very own Matt Morgan will be leading that your!! Tour starts at the Old Longwood Historic Hotel, on the front porch!!

Cake Decorating winner announced at 2 pm, cake raffle winners at 2:30 pm (winners will be texted directly AND posted to the Longwood Historic Society FB page. Cakes must be picked up by 5pm. Come vote for your favorite cake!!

Oh my goodness! Check these out—so cool. We will have these LED-lighted acrylic trophies for our top three male and female overall finishers, our costume contest awards in each category, and the corporate team award. The name of the specific prize will be engraved below the logo. Our winning corporate team's name will be engraved on theirs. Thank you to Laser Beans Awards (headquartered in the historic district) for helping make the vision come to life! See you at the Longwood Monster Dash 5K!
