I remember the first time I picked up a copy of Garden & Gun Magazine and was blown away by its inspiring photography and journalism highlighting Southern artisans and unique locations throughout the South.

As a southern-based designer, my biggest design dream was to have the opportunity to partner with Garden & Gun on an event. This dream came true on September 5th, when I was invited to create the flowers for their Bourbon Heritage Month Dinner Celebration at Cloudland Hotel’s Auld restaurant. This spectacular gathering featured a selection of artisans who pushed limits to create something unique and spectacular.

Marianne Eaves the female master distiller behind Forbidden Bourbon who elected to distill this bourbon at a lower temperature so it would have a greater breadth of flavor.

Noam Blitzer the owner and chef behind Meesh Meesh, a Louisville restaurant focusing on Levantine cuisine, masterfully brings the delicious yet unexpected flavors found in Palestine, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, and Syria to our region.

McLemore Cove’s team saw the beauty of a remote part of Georgia and tirelessly worked for years to create a stunning place for folks to gather and enjoy the ancient, unique landscape of the Southern Appalachians.

Ashlea Snell, a world-class photographer based in Dalton, brought this dinner to life.

Farmer’s market chic wedding bouquet. The bouquet contains a mix of locally grown dahlias, calendula, straw flower, rudbeckia, vetch, nigella, bachelor’s buttons and snapdragons.

While completing her masters at Cambridge University, the bride fell in love with the wildflower meadow lawns of Kings College.

Incorporating a wildflower meadow into the recreation space transformed a large venue into an intimate summer gathering. The guests dined at tables set with vintage plates and silver plated cutlery while gazing over candlelit bud vases.

It is hot, blazing hot, which means it is time for Sangria. La Paz Chattanooga recently held Sangria on the Southside to celebrate their 20th Anniversary.

This is one of my favorite groups to work with. Not only do they allow me to indulge my passion for contemporary Latin design which is sophisticated and bright with twist of fun, the folks who attend La Paz’s events adore flowers.

Happy 20th Anniversary La Paz and here is to many more years of doing great work in the Chattanooga area.

One of my favorite spring garden table designs is from this intimate wedding held at Renaissance Commons in . The exquisitely restored, historic space provides a perfect backdrop for English garden style table centers constructed from rare pale yellow peonies, locally grown campanula, David Austin roses, and butterfly ranunculus.

My favorite aspect of this venue full of stunning niches is it is run by a friendly, quality oriented team who seeks perfection at every turn.

This arrangement is from the opening reception for the Houston Museum of Decorative Art’s pop up museum in The Bluff View Art District. The pop up museum will be in place while Houston Museum renovates their historic building.

The official opening for the pop up museum is May 7. Take time to visit this stunning collection of decorative glass. It provides a fascinating historical insight into different cultural aspects of American and European history.

These large garden style arrangements brought much cheer to a celebration of life last week at 2nd Presbyterian, a stunning stone church which is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Memorial arrangements hold an elevated level of meaning when they reflect the person being celebrated. It is always an honor to be commissioned to create one.

Flowers for a spring birthday tea.

This time of year, azaleas are bursting with blooms. The small flowered variety gives this arrangement a romantic, whimsical feel similar to one of my favorite flowers Bougainvillea. Also, fresh from my cut garden are, hellebores, anemones, lambs ear foliage, and mahonia berries.

If you choose to use mahonia berries in an arrangement, make sure to transport them carefully. They bruise easily. Also, watch out for mahonia’s spiky leaves. These plants love to protect themselves.

Nothing says spring like an adorable Easter display filled with topiary bunnies and other animal friends.
This display for Cloudland is particularly special. The luxury resort, which is part of McLemore Cove, just opened at the end of February and is spectacular.

Creating this design was a true honor because of a long family tie to the area. I am the 4th generation on my father’s side and at least 6th generation on my mother’s side to call this part of Georgia home. Thank you McLemore for commissioning a design for the hotel’s first celebration since opening.

If you are looking for a stunning spot to catch up with friends or a date night, head out to the back of Lookout Mountain to experience this amazing hotel which is transforming a beautiful part of Walker County that has been overlooked for years.

When I started Cartter’s Trail one of my dreams was to have an extensive cutting garden. This somewhat intimidating dream is taking shape. Under the mentorship of my husband, @mbarronstead, who was the plant propagator for @crabtreefarms for over a decade and the Tennessee Dalhia Society, I am diving in.Here are some snaps from week one - the first week of starting seeds. This week was filled with creating a large spreadsheet noting the 80 plus proposed plants needs, diving into mixing soil, and learning to nurture seeds. While filled with plenty of beginners moments like having to make 4 trips back to the house because I kept leaving tools behind and forgot warm water, it was filled with many successes. Most of the 20 plus types of seeds started sprouted within seven days.#chattanoogaflorist #chattanoogaflowerfarm #chattanoogafloraldesigner #flowerfarm #cuttinggarden
