The Gathering of the Eagles Canoe Journey is returning to Lopez this Sunday, arriving at Spencer Spit and camping there overnight. (Note: NOT Odlin this year.)
This is the 4th year of this canoe journey with the Alliance of Earth, Sky and Water Protectors and, once again, it promises to be both fun and inspiring.

Here's what's happening:

Sunday, May 19:
-1 pm: Official canoe landing, Spencer Spit. There will be 2-3 canoes arriving, the Hawaiian crew is coming again, Carvers Camp returns and a group of indigenous climate activists new to the journey will be joining.
Do plan to be on the beach before 1pm to see the arrival. Discovery Pass fees are being waived for the landing - and we're grateful to State Parks and Ranger Meghan for that act of support!
- 4 pm: Lopez Community Center - doors open for Community Potluck Celebration that begins at 4:30pm. -- Please bring a potluck dish to share and utensils if you can. We're providing salmon.
- 6 pm: Protocol and Celebration will follow the potluck and will end with a closing prayer.

Monday, May 20:
- 8 am: Canoes depart Spencer Spit for a stopover at Odlin.
- 10 am: Water Ceremony at Odlin Park before the canoes head to San Juan Island.

We are raising funds to provide a hearty Lopez welcome to the three Canoe Journeys that will be honoring us with visits in 2024. We want the Tribal Canoe Families to continue to view Lopez as an honoring community that seeks to strengthen ties with local Tribes who have called this area home since time immemorial.

May 19th – 20th: The Gathering of the Eagles Canoe Journey
July 11th – 14th: The Coast Salish Youth Coalition Challenge Paddle and the Blue Heron Family Canoe Journey

Traditionally, the Lopez community welcomes the voyagers offering food, shelter, and gifts for elders and canoe skippers and pullers. We are seeking to raise $5000 to support these hosting activities. All donations are tax deductible due to the generous fiscal sponsorship of the Madrona Institute. Thanks to a generous donor, the first $1000 will be matched 1:1!
