TIAMP KOLLEKTIV WISHES SOLEMN ASSEMBLY A VERY DIRTY THIRTY!!:
SOLEMN ASSEMBLY began in December 1989 with Joe Virus and Andy Baker. They met on a road trip with their girlfriends who were friends. After spending the trip talking about Skinny Puppy, Front 242 and My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, they became fast friends and decided to start a band together fusing elements from those bands listed and several more.
By 1992 Solemn Assembly was just a solo project for Joe Virus. The sound was raw electronic industrial with rhythmic noise percussion and arpeggiated basslines.
In 1994 Solemn Assembly started playing live shows in the metroplex at CD-X in Hurst, Tx and Tunnelwerks in Deep Ellum. After being discovered by KNON DJ the late Dj Stereotype, Solemn Assembly started getting booked regularly in the Dallas area.
The live lineup was a revolving door of some of DFW’s best electronic musicians including at times members of Never, Of One Mind, Audio Paradox, Cyberwhore, Lollipop Guild, sinsect, and many more. The current live lineup is Brian Aitken on live modular synths and bass, and Joe Virus on vocals, live percussion and modular synths.
Today Solemn Assembly celebrates 30 years of making original and uncompromising industrial music.
