This year was difficult for me as a Jewish Israeli American woman on campus. I decorated my cap to honor my Jewish and Israeli pride with the Hebrew phrase "Am Israel Chai," expressing solidarity and continuity. I used white lace to cut-out letters, painted the floral imagery blue, and added a Star of David. I did this for myself, for those afraid to express themselves, and for my immigrant parents who pushed me to be a first-generation college student.
