Hello Choreographers and Dancers,

We have 2 remaining slots (of eight) for participation in DanceSpot at our intimate dance theater in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. No fees, but a chance to show and share your art.

DanceSpot may not be as exciting (or refreshing) as this, but definitely more variety.

Hey Choreographers! DanceSpot at Studio A Dance occurs on Saturday October 12 at 8 PM.

AND........

There are a few slots still available.

There are no choreographer's fees, simply an opportunity to get the creaks out, imagination in, and to perform in our awesome garden side theatre. Here’s how it works: From now until October 11, I offer you rehearsal space (upon availability) at a fraction of the usual cost. $15 per hour for Magnolia and $20 for the Oak Room.

I will meet with you personally to discuss your vision as far as lighting is concerned. At this time I program the light board to fit your needs. I have a full color scheme, 3 spotlights as well as awesome cross-fades and fade-outs-ins up to 60 seconds. Secondly, we stream the show and record each piece so you will have a video for your reel.

If you have yet to see our theatre here's a brief description: Theatre is in the larger studio (Oak Room) and we have curtains, and risers to accommodate up to an audience of 70. A full lighting board with up to 8 cues per dance. Magnolia studio (the front studio) is partitioned in half to make a communal dressing room as well as reception area.

From experience, I know that there is nothing better than to present a dance to friends and family in an intimate setting such as ours. Please let me know if you would be interested in participation, or if you have a student or fellow choreographer itching to get onto a stage with no drama (unless a dramatic piece -haha), please share this email.

I look forward to hearing from you!

This song of Chita’s epitomizes her life.
“Happy Life”. We had a blast dancing to this icon’s song which she mashed-up with “más que nada” lol.

As for her dramatic Acting chops, I was fortunate to see her in Lorca’s magnificent play “The house of Bernarda Alba”. truly a tour de force

Hello Ballet Dancers!

Perry Brown, who taught ballet at Studio A Dance has recommended a ballet teacher, Rodney Jenkins who will be teaching a FREE ballet class --of intermediate level-- at our studio.

Jenkins is quite a colorful fellow with a melodic Texan drawl. He told me about his experiences dancing Jalisco folklorico, flamenco, jazz, Vegas Dancing, and numerous other forms. Not to mention tons of ballet where he is an expert at partnering, among anything else pertaining to this art form.

and does he have stories!

In any event, I hope you will be able to drop in and attend his FREE class on Friday January 26th at 12:30PM to 2 PM in the Oak Room following Cati-Jean's Friday jazz class. Again, free! (Studio A Dance, 2306 Hyperion Ave., Los Angeles, 90027)

He is also a visual artist. Below his bio below you will see samples of the flyers he made up for his class. My Best, Bill
