Sarah Wallner has successfully blurred the lines between two careers. One, as a top Hollywood celebrity stylist, and the second, as the owner of her own website specializing in sexy, stylish, sporty and timeless apparel – Musotica.com. It’s a blending of careers that benefits her famous Hollywood clients, top models, magazine art directors… and anybody interested in attaining a fit, sexy and desirable look.
As a young girl growing up in Rome and Paris, Sarah dreamed of one day running her own company. However, there was no way should could have envisioned becoming a stylist celebrities and top models as well. However, her artistic root are not difficult to trace — Sarah’s father was a respected professional artist in Europe well known for his sensual, yet sensitive paintings of women in an Abstract figurative style.
“Our house was always brimming with talented people,” says Sarah, who finished high school in Germany before leaving for Los Angeles to attend college. “There were always artists, writers, directors and political figures and lots of lively discussions about everything — it was very inspiring.”
After college, she landed a marketing position with Interscope Records and later Sony Music. It wasn’t long before the energetic, rising young executive was tasked with the media promotion responsibilities for (among others) superstar Michel Jackson and the group, Oasis. Despite her continued success in the corporate world, she never abandoned her dream of entrepreneurship.
And in 2000, she founded Musotica.com. “Through my travels, and involvement with promotional shoots and events, I saw a tremendous need for sexy apparel… without being trashy,” she said. “I was confident that there was a pent up demand for clothing that helped women look fit, sexy and stylish at the same time.”
With a limited amount of working capital, Sarah was forced to very selectively add clothes to her expanding Musotica Ware Collection that she felt would stand the test of time. “It’s funny, not having much money when I started Musotica.com turned out to be great for business,” she said.
“For example, a picture in Pl***oy needs to be timeless for at least ten years, and that’s how I began designing. Sure, I add colors and fabrics, but my core style remained the same… and that has branded the Musotica Wear name.”
With Musotica.com attracting a growing following, Sarah began fielding almost daily requests from actors and models all wanting her advice about what to wear for an upcoming special appearance or magazine shoot. At the same time, she was also receiving invitations from magazines and companies to supply Musotica Wear for cover shots and various promotional events.
“I was both encouraged and surprised by the reaction to my website,” she said. “Many models and actors trusted my judgment on what would make them look their absolute best, so I eventually began wardrobe styling professionally. I quickly realized, however, that I couldn’t find the styles – especially the fit – I was looking for on the market – so I began designing hard-to-find fashions that would look incredible for sexy shoots featuring fit models.
From Pl***oy Magazine to the cover of Fitness, Sarah’s styling talents remain in constant demand. For example, she recently designed an ambitious cover for Pl***oy Magazine featuring Pamela Anderson, and inspired by the 1960 classic, “La Dolce Vita.” She has also designed covers for Guess, Esquire, Fitness, Oxygen, Flex and many other major publications.
Her magazine styling work has also opened doors numerous entertainment and advertising projects, including Chippendales, Bacardi, Miller Light and The Lingerie Bowl. A few of her celebrity stylings have included, Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton, Brooke Burke, Joanna Krupa, Cindy Margolis and more...
“Being a celebrity stylists lets me quickly identify what’s missing in the marketplace, and create designs that meet my own needs,” she says. “For example, I created my own Fitness Wear and Swimsuit lines because I couldn’t find exactly what I needed for my celebrity clients.”
And it’s Sarah that makes Musotica.com so unique in a fashion landscape dominated by large, profit-driven corporations. When somebody visits her website, they get to choose from a collection either hand picked (or designed) by one of Hollywood’s most gifted celebrity stylists.
Combining timeless sexiness, attitude with a fitness flair, Musotica.com has become an “on line” destination for everybody from famous actors and models to soccer moms.
“I choose and design clothing as if I’m preparing for a photo shoot,” says Sarah, who also draws inspiration from French and Italian movies in her rare spare time. “It’s a great way for people who don’t have the benefit of a personal stylists, to dress as if they do.”
