A toast with Champagne to the 2024 Olympics and carrying on the French tradition of making food and drink and life into an art!

Touted as drinkable from morning to night – and in a coupé or water glass for more bubbles, according to experts, other rules do apply.

The magical spirit must be made of grapes frown in the ‘Champagne’ region approximately 1 hour from Paris. For the legal designatin it must be made of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes and must be aged for a minimum of 18 months.

It’s always fun to see what is new in the food community. Doubly food is seeing it at Masters of Taste 2024, a wonderful 7th annual event benefitting the Union Station Homeless Services.

First up outside the gate was Chef Michael Hung with ROOM SERVICE billed as offering “a restaurant experience in the privacy of your own home from L.A.’s first mobile private chef service. Impressive.

You could serve UPTOWN MAC AND CHEESE, a wonderful name.

And the event organization for the crowds of people that always make it feel like you are part of the party and yet have so much space in the Rose Bowl stadium is outstanding.

We were happy to see our old friend, community minded Town and Country, make this sold-out event happen.

Delicious, Masters of Taste 2024 is inspiring as a community event, with 100% of all the tickets benefitting Union Station Homeless Services. This is the 7th annual.

It’s also inspiring to see what is new in the food and party world. We loved the taste and the container of POPS CREAMERY, a coconut filled with scrumptious small batch ice cream and gelato.

We loved the little pails that PORTO’S used for their salad and also their small bite fresh berry dessert - just the right size.

Brunch Salad is festive with spinach, jewel tomatoes and fresh herbs colors.

On the Side: chopped hard boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, ciabatta croutons. And, oh those croutons of torn bread, so delicious and textured you want to eat them alone!

Here the Italy -America Chamber of Commerce West and Italy’s Regione Campania hosted us at CAMPANIA UNVEILED The Walk Around Taste event was a dazzling show of Italian animated “bella figura.”

The finest regional products to the trade and media, now only available to them. The versatile Canestrini wines, for example, can be paired as red or wines with food.

The show at the Peninsula Hotel, reflecting stylish Mediterranean inspiration. And the best burrata- we asked its source!

paired with DEVILED EGG W/ FRESH GREEN APPLE & CUCUMBER BRUNOISE and a chive garnish “hidden under the creamy filling”

Chef Manny and Chef Brian did all the delicate brunoise “behind the scenes” by hand.

Brunoise-style cutting is a tiny 1/8” cube cut from a quartered julienne stick. It’s considered the smallest piece possible before it is considered a mince. Cookbooks advise “blitzing them in a food processor.” Not at Taste and Company.

Taste & Company helped welcome New York entertainment industry guests to Los Angeles outside on a glorious Indian summer day.

What was on the menu?

SOUTH BEACH CRAB CAKES as a note from the east and west coast:

Sumptuous Lump crab dotted with diced sweet peppers and panko crusted. Add a dollop of Espelette aioli and a micro greens garnish for a final spark.

Next came a light, satisfying WAGYU SLIDER ON BABY BUN, all dressed up with truffle cheese, baby arugula and a hint of sweet in an autumn color, apricot jam. Perfection in the parade of thoughtful passed “bites” that were as satisfying as a meal.

What to serve with grilled meats?

What a fun cut to play with on the grill and platter! Watch Master chef Cynthia Mamukari, Taste and Company owner, at work.

This adult lollipop is taken from the 6th, 7th, and 8th ribs of the short plate. They are then cut, peeled from the bone, trimmed and.

The intramuscular marbling that Texas Wagyu is known for ensures a rich and buttery flavor.

Wagyu has a higher percentage of monounsaturated fat and low cholesterol content, making it the healthiest beef of all.

And the name? ‘Wa’ meaning Japanese and ‘gyu’ meaning cow.

Because of their intra-muscular fat cells (‘marbling’) Wagyu were originally used in Japan as farm draft animals. Much like the Piedmontese in Italy!

Chef Thompson’s authentic Mexican, fish and seafood-focused Pez Cantina uses sustainable, local ingredients.

Chef Brer has been a local fisherman since the age of seven.

We are already getting ideas form his Hickory Smoked Steelead Rillette on a Crispy Forbidden Rice Cake with Pickled Shallot.
