10 years ago I quit my full time job at a photo studio to pursue freelance photography… what a wild ride it’s been 🌪️

I was 24 living in the downtown LA with a degree in graphic design & some big dreams.

At the very same time Tanner also quit whom he was working for and started his own real estate appraisal firm, while also getting his real estate license and brokers license all at once.

I’m so proud of us… we set out our goals and sure did do the damn thing this past decade. Ten years sure flew by.

In that same decade we also got married. Moved 5 times. Travelled all over the world photographing weddings. Saved money for a house. Bought a house. Lost our Dilly & Bean, gained a Gary. Had 2 miscarriage’s.

Me and Tanner aren’t really just a marriage in my eyes.

We’re coworkers. We’re business partners. We’re friends. We’re roommates. We’re parents. We’re travel buddies. We’re two ships passing in the night. We’re eachother emergency contacts. We’re teammates.

I love that we didn’t meet later in life. Our timing in this life made it so we could grow up together. We took a road less travelled.

IT HAS NOT BEEN EASY. We are not the perfect couple, we’ve been thru some major ups… but we’ve been in the deep downs. I love to make it appear friggin great online and trick all of you, but it takes so much energy to live a self employed life. You are ALWAYS working, you are never clocked out (not even on vacation). After all the blood sweat tears pains & sacrifices ~ I can’t say it’s not worth it. I have literally been able to create my very own dream life.

Just a testament to believe in yourself. Don’t give up too early…
&&& if you really really want something out of life, you really can achieve it.

It just takes hard word, patience & some grit.

every slow season has a transformative effect… but this current slow season has been full of unexpected twists.
we’re so conditioned to always want more, i’m trying to train my mind to stop & smell the roses.

spring is in the air, the flowers are blooming bright yellow everywhere, the nights are getting later. a sudden sense of rebirth of new ideas and inspiration towards my newest sessions are developing. i can feel my creative rut coming to a close.

this ap lately has had me feeling insanely uninspired. the color grey comes to mind. endless scrolling, where everything looks the same… same poses, same outfits, same lighting.. just a copy of a copy. but still with each new shoot i book this season, that little spark still lights up in me to create something magical and unique for my special longtime loyal clients 🫶🏽

every night before bed i ask myself who did you serve today? most days it’s my husband and my sweet dog, but on the days i have photo sessions ~ i get to serve you.

this season of my life sure has been a rough one for me, but we’re on the mend.

my next chapter is loading, a fresh start, a new leaf, I’m turning the page 📖 springtime you beautiful little thing you 🌼 thank you for serving us
