The two on the right are pretty recognizable as the 1073, but what are the 2 channels on the left? They’re actually something pretty special! They are vintage Neve 1066’s custom modified by Sheps to have basically a 1081 EQ. The modification added an extra circuit board, but kept all of the original circuit in tact and is completely reversible if we wanted to go back to 1066. But the enhanced EQ is SO MUCH more usable. Oh and did we mention it was custom modified for The Who’s Pete Townshend?

If you’ve recorded drums in Studio 1, there a good chance you’ve heard this room tone. Vintage C414 EB with the brass ring CK12, faced away from the kit, through the Legacy and compressed with VCA compressor. A perfect match!

Our larger of the two studios, Studio 1 boasts an 800sqft live room with an additional iso booth and two isolation lockers for amps. The control room is centered around a 48-channel API Legacy console and Ocean Way studio monitors. Studio 1 has 48 channels of IO running on a Protools HDX system via Apogee Symphony and Lynx Aurora converters and outboard gear consisting vintage Neve, Pultec, Universal Audio, Tree Audio, Trident, Empirical Labs, DBX, Overstayer and more. and I joined mic lockers for a deep listen today! So surprising when hearing back, you think you know what a mic sounds like and then you A/B it and it completely changes your opinion. My favorite mics today: Neumann M269c, Neumann sm69 (tube) and Neumann km64
