Did we say MUSICAL? Yes, we did come check out your two last chances to catch Morgan the Musical: A S*x Toy Western (ticket link in bio).

S*x, guns, and di**os! Riley, a young non-binary dynamo, moves from LA to small-town Montana to open a s*x toy shop. Hilarious songs abound in this irreverent hourlong musical comedy western about steamy romance, sinister plots, religion, guns, being yourself, and some very s*xy toys.

“The Dolphin I Loved” is a one-hour homage to the true story of Margaret Lovatt and her Dolphin, Peter. A 1960s Hustler Magazine article sensationalized the story and became popular in the 2010s with Radiolab coverage. For three months in the late 1960s, Margaret and Peter lived in an apartment filled with water while Margaret attempted to teach Peter English. We bring this show today to invite audiences to challenge commonly held misconceptions about humans being the most intelligent species on Earth at a time when the Earth needs our respect more than ever.

Our cast of one performer — works tirelessly to capture the bewildering spirit of Margaret Lovett, Dr. John Lilly, and Peter the dolphin, the strangest trio on planet Earth, in the only way she knows how: through dolphin sounds and a kiddy pool stage. Kelly has created a verisimilitude of the US Virgin Islands, where the story takes place if viewed upside down through squinted eyes, that will delight and break the hearts of all.

Extraterrestrial Kink is a dark comedy about a woman seeking meaning in her earthly form after having mind-altering s*x with a perfect alien being. The play follows Maura to the middle of nowhere Vermont, where she seeks solace in an alien encounter support group.

This is a story of self-discovery— an intense, poignant, funny, and erotic deep-dive into the power of love, connection, transformation, and the mysteries of the universe.

Maura Mannle is the writer, star, and producer of this one-woman play!

Directed by Victoria Frings and movement direction by Liam Lane

NOT TO BE MISSED!

In this hilarious and provocative solo show, Butch, the sardonic girlfriend of a semi-popular le***an tiktoker, begins sneaking out at night in an attempt to reclaim her individuality. Butch begins acting out in increasingly drastic ways until she lands herself in a head-spinning predicament she is unable to joke away. A distinctive black comedy, Modern Butchood is sure to make you laugh, cry and consider the lies we tell ourselves.

Written and performed by Molly Gloeckner

Directed by Charles Towle

THIS THURSDAY, JULY 11th (LINK IN BIO)
Kevin Gregory Krieger gives you everything in this full hour of high-octane, improvised performance. THIS IS NOT A WORK IN PROGRESS. It is the final product, and the promise is simple: to give you the best show of your entire life – made up right on the spot. No props, no cues, no plans – just a ticking clock and a man willing to do anything to please you.

Kevin Gregory Krieger is a comedian and director based in Los Angeles, CA. Combining standup, clown and improvisation, his live performances have taken him to stages across the region, including Pasadena’s Civic Center Auditorium where he was featured on NBC’s America’s Got Talent. Under the tutelage and direction of John Gilkey(Cirque Du Soleil), Kevin performed in the critically-acclaimed improvisational ensemble The Murge, which LA Weekly dubbed, "Spontaneous theater of the absurd…LA’s craziest improv show.” In 2023, Kevin directed Claire Woolner’s solo show A Retrospection which was called “captivating throughout” by The New York Times and went on to win Best of Hollywood Fringe. Kevin currently teaches clown from his very own theater (Public Displays of Altadena ) where you can catch him performing his solo show: An Honest Work. You can watch his shows on twitch.tv/pda_space or tune in for the highlights on instagram.

Something you need to see! This weekend ticket link is in the bio!

Based partly on his #1 Amazon Best Seller, A KID GROWS IN BROOKLYN, in this semi-comedic world premier solo show, Art honestly examines whether he really is Jewish. Yeah, his name is Jewish, and his mother was Jewish, but not so fast! There are so many ways he is not a poster boy Jew. Winner of last year’s 2023 HOLLYWOOD ENCORE PRODUCERS AWARD, in this new show, Art presents his idiosyncratic view of the world, this time regarding his religion. This world-premiere production will resonate not only with people from Brooklyn and Jewish folk but with others, who will get a peek at what it can be like being from Brooklyn and being Jewish.

Rounding out some of the important shows to see this weekend July 7th at Brainwashed - (ticket link in bio).

Brainwashed is a dark comedy about growing up in dictatorship. Alina creates absurd reality on stage to explore brainwashing techniques with the audience while sharing her experience living in Belarus under a brutal regime. She sets out to convince you of a lie, establish dominance and feed the audience soup that she’s freshly prepared on stage. It’s silly, bizarre, but also dark and vulnerable.
Trigger warnings: This is a dark comedy based on a personal experience, there will be mentions of death, murder, self-harm, and police brutality. Also partial nudity.

Even more important to think about today and to see this weekend (ticket link in bio)

Russian anti-war self-confession.

“The Border” is a dramatic poem crafted through the autofictional method.
As Russia launches a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the protagonist, a young man from Moscow, vehemently opposes the war. In a bid to evade repression, he plans to flee the country. However, his plans are ruined when he learns that his mother, who lives in a war zone on the border of two countries, is suffering a heart attack. Despite his resolve to support her, he finds himself entangled in a family conflict, their stances on the war polar opposites.
Amidst the chaos of bombings, the characters are forced to find ways of reconciliation and forgiveness in conditions of war and dictatorship.

Returning to Moscow, the hero realizes that the Russia he once knew no longer exists. He will have to find a way to live in new conditions, resisting the regime but keeping love for his homeland in his heart.

Just one of the important shows happening at this coming weekend.

Take a journey with Eena, who believes we should all “do better when we know better” and always strive to “vibrate higher.” Eena provides a safe space for Mary, Samantha (also known as Sammy or Sam), and Val to share their journeys of testing positive for HIV. How did they contract it? When did they find out? How did they process receiving that diagnosis? What did their friends and family think, say, or do? How is life after the diagnosis?

Meet Mary, a top ER nurse who is Christian and a virgin, saving herself for marriage. Will her church and work community support her now that she’s HIV positive? Does she tell them? Do they already know? Samantha, born with a birth defect, seeks the affection so absent in her tumultuous home life. Will she find the love she’s seeking despite looking in all the wrong places? Val is what many today aspire to be; she is a social media influencer with 1.2 million followers. She is loved by many and leads a life that many dream of. Yet, she can’t believe she has tested positive for HIV. Or has she?

This one-woman show features four main characters and a host of supporting characters, offering a roller coaster ride of “edutainment”—educating while entertaining.

Don’t be deterred by the serious subject matter. HIV is merely one element in the broader narrative of life, love, challenges, and triumph. You will enjoy every minute of this show, and when it’s over, you’ll want more. You will be moved, you will laugh, you will relate, you will be educated, and you will be enlightened.

Please don’t miss your chance to see this very entertaining and important show, because "tHis Is Very IMPORTANT."

Our Story

The Actors Company is dedicated to providing Los Angeles area actors with the tools they need for a successful career. From our acting, comedy, hosting and voiceover workshops to our industry intensives, we offer unique classes taught by working professionals. We also provide on-going services that all actors need, like our demo reel intensive, which arms actors with episodic quality scenes to stand out in their submissions, to our self-taping services, where we shoot, edit and deliver on-camera auditions seven days a week.

We have three beautiful theaters on the border of Hollywood/West Hollywood that we rent out year-round for productions, events and film shoots. We are a host venue for the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June and we host the LA Comedy Festival and the LA Indie Film Festival twice a year.
