Cats FINALLY out of the bag! I thought of saying something cocky, something with a lil ego. But when it comes down to it, that just ain’t me! So here’s what I gotta say, this one is for my ladies! Specifically my female Dj/producer colleagues. This is for the constant struggle of simply being a female in a gatekeeping boys club. This is for every time a promoter doubted your abilities & refused to give you a proper set time and or opportunity. This is for when you actually get a proper time & some dude says, “She only got it cause she’s a girl, she probably sucked someone’s di*k, versus “She worked her ass off & she’s earned it”. This is for all the times you played your heart out to nearly empty room. This is for anyone who’s ever told you, “You haven’t put enough time in.” When all you do is sacrifice time away from your family pursuing your passion. For the times they said, “Don’t worry, I gotchu.” Only to be ghosted at the end of your set. This is for any mom out there who struggles juggling their home/work life, while still making time for the things that make their soul ignite. This is for the late nights you had to stay awake cause this is the only time you had to yourself with peace in quiet, searching for just “One more track”. Or making a track sound just right. This is for anytime you had to go out to a gig alone in sketchy location, hoping to make it back safe to your car. This is for anytime the dude before you thought just because you’re a girl they can play, “Just one more track.” Which ends up being like 3 more tracks. This is for all the times you felt like you had to prove yourself in this overly male dominated industry only to feel unnoticed & defeated. This is for all the times you cried cause you didn’t know how much more of all of this you could take. This right here IS FOR MY LADIES! Never give up on your dreams, cause sometimes right before you’re ready to give up. A true homie comes along, acknowledges all your hard work and helps you reach your goals. With all that being said, “THANK YOU!” To every single person who’s supported me & never doubted my abilities up to this point. And Even though I dedicated this to my ladies, if this resonates with you. JUST KEEP GOING!!! 😭🤌🏽
