Jose brings over 14 years of experience in Human Resources and a passion for supporting people through every stage of their work journey. Recruited into HR by a mentor back in 2011, he credits that early guidance for shaping him into the leader he is today.

At Culinary Staffing, Jose contributes a deep knowledge base in Workers’ Compensation, Employee Relations, Payroll, Benefits, and more. But what truly drives him is his commitment to providing help and guidance to others. Whether it’s navigating policies or resolving issues, he believes HR is about making people feel supported, heard, and seen.

His favorite workplace tip? Be your authentic self. Jose believes we all have a story to tell, and being real at work creates space for stronger, more meaningful connections.

🌟 Meet Miguel Sebastian! 🌟

For almost three years, Miguel has been a valued part of the Culinary Staffing team. One of the things he enjoys most about working in the food industry is that there is always something new to learn. He appreciates how hard work can open doors to new opportunities, whether it is moving from dishwasher to server or from server to cook.

Working in different locations has sharpened his ability to adapt quickly and remember where key equipment is stored, which is a huge help when moving from one venue to another. He especially enjoys working in busy, high-energy environments where he can interact with great customers.

His best advice for temp workers is to arrive early, especially on your first day at a new location. Getting lost is easy when you are unfamiliar with the layout, so giving yourself extra time can make a big difference.

When he is not working, Miguel loves playing soccer, especially on Saturdays, which is his favorite way to unwind. ⚽

🌟 Meet Jonathan Knighten! 🌟

Jonathan’s love for cooking started in high school when he needed a few extra credits to graduate. He signed up for a food and nutrition class so he could spend more time with his girlfriend and ended up discovering his passion for the kitchen. While he spent much of his career in sales, he always kept a cooking business on the side. Over the past 20 years, he has fully returned to cooking and has never looked back.

For Jonathan, it is all about the food. He has held management roles and helped restaurants expand to new locations, but what he enjoys most is being in the kitchen, preparing meals. He is a patient cook who likes to stay organized, plan ahead, and keep a clean workspace by cleaning as he goes.

His favorite shifts start early in the morning, and he thrives in large events where timing is everything. His advice for temp workers is to stay busy and be willing to do whatever it takes. If you finish your tasks, look for ways to help, whether it is cleaning up or jumping in where needed.

When he is not working, you can find Jonathan experimenting with new recipes, grilling, smoking meats, or out on the water fishing. 🎣🔥

🌟 Meet Graciela Balderas! 🌟

Graciela has been part of the Culinary Staffing team since May 2023, and for her, the best part has been the people. The job has not only given her great opportunities but also friendships that feel like family.

What does she love most about working in food and beverage? The satisfaction of seeing people enjoy a meal she has made and the adrenaline rush of a fast-paced kitchen. She thrives in the chaos of a busy service, when orders are flying, everyone is yelling, and the energy is high. Then, when the rush is over, things settle down, and it is back to laughter and camaraderie. That balance is what she loves most.

Creativity and teamwork are what help Graciela thrive in the industry. She enjoys sharing ideas with colleagues, learning from different perspectives, and collaborating to make every shift a success. Her favorite shifts? Private events, where she gets to interact with guests, and festivals, which always bring a fun and exciting atmosphere.

Her best advice for anyone new to temp work? Be patient, work will come if you are good at your job. Always give 100 percent, and never hesitate to ask for help when needed.

Juan has been a key player at Culinary Staffing since 2016, bringing years of dedication and flair to the food and beverage scene. He thrives on creativity, whether he’s crafting standout plates or brainstorming seasonal menus that wow clients and showcase his skills.

His career is all about connection and precision. Juan excels at listening, tuning into client needs and instructions to deliver exactly what’s expected, every time. It’s a skill that’s fueled his success and earned him trust on the job. Weekends are his sweet spot, where he shines at high-energy events like weddings, anniversaries, and even exclusive, A-list gigs. These shifts offer a front-row seat to the latest food trends and plating styles, keeping him inspired and in the game.
