New post to YouTube channel!
A1 From the 1996 12" "No Mercy" on Afro Vibes Records
From what we can tell, DJ Luna was the early alias for Munich producer Klaus Scheuermann. Discogs lists the release as "downtempo" which is maybe true from a bpm perspective but it's certainly a meeting of genres that's well beyond. Cosmic, early low slung Goa trance, and tribal sounds come to mind with the Headhunters break underneath as a backbone groove. While the only release online with "Sagolik," Luna released a few cosmic/tribal 12s (including a drum n bass influenced record we need to hear!) before putting out their only LP, Eternal Beats. Scheuermann went on to form Tubbe in 2010 and released several queer electro punk records that are definitely worth checking out
New one on the youtube channel, first in awhile! A split 7”
Las Vegas - Bouge Ton Corps, 1990. 7” (France)
From @naya.beat maestro @justragz80
“picked this one up during an epic 7” haul in the French countryside over the summer. Private press promo with a nice Zouk tune on the A-side and this piece of killer French goodness on the flip. Made by Jean Pierre Guy resident DJ at the discotheque “Las Vegas” in the South of France to promote the club”
D.C.S. - Bhangra Lovers
From the Rule Brittania 12" 1989.
"D.C.S. are one of those acts that exemplify the confluence of cultures that is special about the UK. Part reggae, part synth-pop and very much Bhangra they are a pretty unique animal among the UK Bhangra acts of that era. I discovered this 12” after becoming a fan of their OST for the Bollywood movie Cricketer. Everything about the 12” said “take a chance” – the politically charged artwork for one. Didn’t expect the biggest surprise to be on the b-side. “ - Raghav

So Pat, Raghav, and I have started posting records on our new YouTube channel. Our goal is to share unique sounds that haven’t made it that site. We’ll have guests contribute from time to time and we’ll make it weekly thing.
Simbotic Echo - Brigham’s Acid
From @djduckcomb
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH62rLL4it0
“here’s an obscure private press new wave/minimal synth lp from San Ramon, California: “Lovelock” by Simbotic Echo. I found this last year at Last Bookstore in downtown LA while on lunch break from jury duty. The cover immediately grabbed me as well as the title. Was it a typo? Did they mean to name their band Simbotic Echo? A quick online search revealed nothing which is quite rare in this day and age when every piece of music ever recorded is well documented online. Judging the by lineup and instrumentation and song titles, I took the $5 gamble. When I got home I was immediately struck by how well produced this was and how close they approximated the sound of their influences like Human League or Depeche Mode. The vocals weren’t the best but there was something endearing to them as well. What also struck me was how they incorporated elements of the burgeoning house music scene that was bubbling up from Chicago, best represented on “Brigham’s Acid” which we are presenting here. This is the song title that jumped out at me when i found the lp and it lives up to its name, it’s a nice slice or NorCal New Wave Acid House!”

Happy 60th birthday to Larry Heard, a genius African American artist who continues to inspire to this day. Take a few minutes, check out this interview he did with @stampthewax a couple years back, listen to his music, and celebrate him. Can’t imagine that anyone who follows us doesn’t already love him and respect the culture he comes from but we need his music so much right now. #larryheard #mrfingers
