From the Milan show. The back of this gown was hand painted by our in-house artists in a traditional Korean style called minhwa. This elaborate work also includes hand beading which is also done in house by our team.

This is a dansokot dress with a semi-transparent jacket. Usually brides want to wear white but Melody chose a light purple tone for her wedding. We think it was a wonderful choice!

Dohl or dohljanchi is a very special celebration in Korean culture. It stems from the 18th century when the infant mortality rate was very high and reaching 1 year was a milestone. Today we still celebrate baby’s first year of life in a big celebration with family and friends, where baby and even parents will dress up in hanbok. A unique ceremony we do during the celebration is called Dohljabi where the child chooses an item out of a lineup of things that represent the child’s future endeavors and luck in life. All in good fun, this tradition is one of the highlights of the Dohl celebration.

Dohl celebrations are for commemorating one year of precious life! To mark this day, we dress the baby in traditional hanbok, give auspicious gifts to the child, and include many symbolic objects in the celebration to wish the baby a long and happy life.

We had the honor of creating this intricate costume for the beautiful - Miss Asia USA winner for Taiwan! We are a Korean hanbok shop, however we also specialize in costume design, which is why Tiffany and her team approached us to create this extravagant garment to represent her Taiwanese heritage.

The concept behind this dress was to depict the tropical and rich landscape of Taiwan. We looked for a fabric that contained images of all kinds of plants including hibiscus flowers and the leaves of the auspicious money tree (pachira aquatica), which was first cultivated in Taiwan as a bonsai tree. We found this fabric to be fitting for the occasion as it helps to represent the vibrant nature of Taiwan!

We have been working out of our small atelier on 8th street in Koreatown, Los Angeles since 1985. And we continue to design, create, and dress our clients from our original location.

We find joy in dressing our clients for traditional events from Dohl celebrations to weddings and Paebaek ceremonies. These celebrations are about embracing where we come from and sharing our cultural assets with the people that we love - and we love being a part of that.

We’ve also been on the forefront of modernizing Hanbok garments, working to bring the best of traditional Korean aesthetics into the mainstream by creating everyday-wear and accessories. We do this by blending traditional and contemporary methods and styles to create an aesthetic that is inspired by our roots.
