Orthodox Easter is on May 2nd and you can still place your orders for the traditional Romanian Easter dishes and sweets!
We will be closing the order’s list on April 25th!
For now we are grateful to our returning clients and we will do our best so they can have a feast on Easter day!
Our team is trained on the COVID food safety rules and soon to be fully vaccinated!

Mucenici is an Orthodox Christian feast of the 40 Martyrs of Sebaste, a traditional holiday in Romania and Moldova. It coincides with the start of the agricultural year.
The legend says that when the Martyrs were drowned, flowers rose to the surface. As a result, for the date of 9 March, every, year, there is a typical dessert with the same name, Mucenici.
The desserts are made in the figure 8 to look like garlands. Others believe that the figure 8 denotes a stylized human form of the martyrs themselves.
In Southern Romania, Muntenia and Dobrogea regions, the believe they symbolize the lake where the Martyrs were cast. As a consequence the Mucenici are made from simple dough and boiled in sweet water topped with walnuts and cinnamon.
This year I decided to make the baked version, from Moldova, where the Mucenici are shaped as large eights stuffed with walnuts and also topped with honey and more walnuts.

Turkey & Chicken Giblets Borsht is the best way to start the New Year!
This is a light and delicious soup my mother will always make for us in Romania, after all the elaborate and sometimes heavy, traditional Christmas dishes.
It is a very easy transition to lighter and healthier eating!
