History Club of Los Gatos

History Club of Los Gatos The History Club of Los Gatos is a non-profit community, philanthropic organization. We support the community with net profits of our building rental.

Since its founding in 1897, its primary focus has been toward supporting the welfare of women and children. A portion of the rental of our building is donated to local organizations. In addition, our members are involved in the support of many local groups, both financially and wit our volunteering of our time, The club spreads its resources throughout the community with an emphasis on health and education, i.e. schools, library, cultural, and social needs.

Today For Women's History Month, the History Club would like to spotlight a woman not many of us have ever heard of - Nancy Wake. Nancy joined the resistance in France in 1940 and helped many people escape the country. This video was aired for Holocaust Remembrance Day, but we think Women's History Month is a good time to be inspired by brave women like Nancy Wake.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is an international memorial day commemorating the tragedy of the Holocaust that occurred during the Second World War. It commemorates the genocide that resulted in the death of an estimated 6 million Jews, 8.7 million Slavs, 1.8 million ethnic Poles, 220,000 Romani people, 250,000 mentally and physically disabled people, 312,000 Serb civilians, 1,900 Jehovah's Witnesses, 70,000 "asocials", by the N**i regime and its collaborators.
