Bernoulli Small Batch Ice Cream began as a pact between two ice cream fanatics. In 1982, nearly 5,000 miles away from home, Brian and Allysan met for the first time at a Bad Durkheim Weinfest in Germany. Brian

was working with Air Force Intelligence and Allysan taught music to military children. After discovering they shared the same hometown, worked on the same base, and had a mutual addiction to ice cream, the fireworks went off. Brian and Allysan fell in love and made a pact to start their own ice cream brand someday. Together, they studied ice cream production at the University of Maryland where they tasted new flavors and studied brand name products. When that didn’t work out, their ice cream dreams settled on the back shelf, like many dreams do, behind real life. Over the years, after settling in Kentucky in 1989, Brian and Allysan raised their family while Brian worked as CFO for his family-owned company and Allysan worked as a substitute teacher, school, and 4H youth volunteer. They both continued to make time for ice cream tasting and cultivate their expertise. Then, luckily, in 2014, their daughter-in-law received an ice cream maker as a wedding gift and had no idea what to do with it. Brian pulled the old ice cream textbook from the shelf and the whole family started enjoying back porch, hand-cranked ice cream. Allysan and Brian’s dream was awakened. Soon after, they bought a 6 quart batch freezer, set it up in their garage and started creating flavors. A few of the original premium ice cream flavors include Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, Pistachio Cannoli, Banana Pudding, and Tahitian Vanilla. Now, Brian and Allysan are living the dream. The pair handles everything about their business from creating flavors to making product to contacting distributors. Brian is the master of operations while Allysan, a Southern cook at heart, is the culinary creative spark in the kitchen. They both work closely with restaurants and distributors to invent brand new flavor combinations. To them, it’s one of the best parts of the job. Imagination is an important ingredient of the magic that makes Bernoulli Small Batch Ice Cream taste so incredibly wonderful and irresistibly delightful. Bernoulli Small Batch Ice Cream was funded from the sale of Brian’s plane and named after the Bernoulli principle, the effect of airflow over the plane that makes it lift.
