Good mernin and happy Sunday!
A complicated forecast today. Let me splain.
Areas of low clouds, patchy fog, and light drizzle due to all the moisture left over from yesterday's storms. This will factor into the forecast today.
Here's the skinny:
More clouds = more stable air = decreased storms
Less clouds = more sunshine = more instability = strong to severe storms and a threat for flash flooding due to slow moving storms.
We're in a monsoon type pattern where there's not a lot of wind shear aloft so storms today will push up and behave erratically like popcorn. They'll be slow movers so the threat of flash flooding is also possible.
Greatest threat of strong to severe thunderstorms exists along the immediate I-25 corridor as well as going west into the foothills.
Timing on or after 2pm.
I believe the farther away from I-25 you get towards the east, the better off you'll be. I'll update in real time; so be patient and I will keep you posted.

The 2024 Colorado Medieval Festival will be June 7th, 8th and 9th just west of Loveland in The Savage Woods, 1750 Savage Road, Loveland, CO. Friday the festival will open at 3pm and close at 6:30pm. Saturday and Sunday will open at 10am and close at 6:30pm.

Although we open at 5:30, we suggest you arrive after dark as some of our display is light sensitive and will not be at full pretty power until it is completely dark... so say 6.

Good mernin!
For the sake of streamlining information, I have shared snowfall graphics from both WFO’s in Goodland and in Pueblo for Tuesday night into Wednesday which align pretty well with what I’m thinking for right meow. 🐱

Getting pretty decent model agreement and consistency now on a more southern track for this storm as well as it entering its weakening phase as it moves across southern Colorado and northern New Mexico during the day on Wednesday.

Highest accumulation will obviously be in the San Juans, Sangre de Cristos, San Luis Valley, the Sawatch Range & northern Mtns (west facing slopes), the Palmer Divide, and southern Colorado along the Raton Mesa.

Lesser amounts along the northern front range & NE plains including but not limited to Weld, Larimer, and Morgan County.

Generally the further north of I-70 you go, the less snowfall you’ll receive. El Paso & Lincoln County due to early onset of downsloping northerly winds off of the Palmer Divide as well as ”donut hole” in Pueblo County.

Denver metro snowfall forecast from me is 2-6” for right now with higher amounts in the southern burbs around C-470 and E-470.
