Hello everyone, I’m still here! I am hoping to break my silence on here and get back to regular posting.
It has been a heck of a year, with a lot of ups and downs and some big changes. Quite frankly, the past few months were overwhelming both personally and professionally, and I just could not seem to find the time or energy to post anything of substance. Without getting caught up in the details, earlier in the year I came down with shingles which took a lot longer to get back to normal from than I anticipated, there were some losses in my family, and my house had a burst sprinkler pipe that flooded my first floor and we are still working on the repairs. On the business end of things, John Francis Designs was always a 2nd full-time job for me, I had been working at the same company for 20 years and had no intention of pursuing woodworking full-time. I enjoyed the freedom that not relying on that income for living expenses afforded me. It allowed me to make decisions and to pursue avenues based on passion and interest rather than strictly for income. Business had been sn*******ng to a point where it was becoming unsustainable, I was basically working or sleeping and missing out on a lot of life. I was fortunate enough to be featured in , and the resulting orders were enough to make that decision for me, and I am now self-employed!
I got caught up just in time for a much, much needed vacation, and now I am back to work and excited to have time to design new work! Moving forward, I have some new ideas for ravioli molds, gnocchi boards, and yes to all the people who have asked, I am looking into making corzetti stamps at some point this year! I also hope to be able to get back to making various decor pieces, mirrors, small side tables, etc…
Thank you all for your support and for making this possible! Working for myself was never a dream I had, I actively worked against it most of the time, holding back at points because I did not want to be overwhelmed with work and to have to sacrifice my quality or standards, but here we are, and I am excited for the future!
