This week brings opportunities for art, Gospel music, and haunted Halloween fun!
10/23-26: Believers Camp Meeting- 3 days of Gospel music are coming to the Harlan Center with 30 acts performing. Preaching begins each day at 10 a.m. Showcases begin at 12 p.m. and worship is each evening at 6 p.m.
10/24: Gears & Beers- Itās the final Gears & Beers Cruise In of the year. Bring your car and enjoy an evening of music, friends, and fun! This monthās cruise in will also be a Trunk or Treat so bring your family out to check out cool cars and sweet treats. Weāll also be drawing for the $1,000 grand prize for the season. Donāt miss the fun on 1st Street beside the Harlan County Beer Company from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
10/24-26: Haunted House of Clowns- The Historic Benham Theater is transforming into a terrifying house of clowns. The Haunted House is open from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is $5.
10/24-26: Haunted Zombie Train Trail- A zombie outbreak has occurred and the train is the escape! Creatures of the night have descended onto Benham to prevent your escape. Will you survive? There will be a choice in the story to continue on a haunted walk or to remain on the train for those who do not wish to walk. Hours are 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is $5.
10/25: Hay Rides & Pumpkin Patch- Visit Kingdom Come State Park on Friday October 18th and Friday October 25th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. You can enjoy a hayride to the pumpkin patch, a pumpkin of your choice, and a round of The Leaves Are Lit Mini-Golf for just $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased inside the giftshop.
10/25: Downtown Harlan Ghost Walk- Bloody Harlan Tours, LLC invites you to hear unusual stories about the usual places. Many of the places we visit every day have chilling stories of the paranormal or true crime. Your knowledgeable guides will lead you on this journey through town and across centuries. The free tour will leave from the Harlan Center Plaza at 7 p.m. The tour is limited to 50 participants. Call (606) 573-4156 to reserve your spot. Walk ups are subject to availability.
10/25: Cumberland Trick or Treat on Main- From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., downtown Cumberland businesses welcome your little ghosts and goblins to Trick or Treat!
10/25-26: Haunted Mine- Visit the Harlan Campus of Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College for the scariest experience under earth! The Haunted Mine is open from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. with $8 admission
10/25-26: Butcher Holler Spook House- A frightfully good time awaits as you travel to 313 Garrett Hollow in Cranks for this spooky season favorite! The cost is $5 per person with children under 5 free. Visit from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
10/25-26: Haunted Barn at English Creek Stables- Spooky season comes to English Creek Stables with their haunted barn every Friday and Saturday night from 9 p.m. to midnight beginning October 11 all the way through the end of October.
10/25-27: The Leaves are Lit Mini Golf- The leaves arenāt the only fall colors shining bright at Kingdom Come State Park. Thousands of lights, hundreds of scarecrows, and other fall decorations await you every weekend through Thanksgiving as you play your way through the mountainside mini golf course at Kingdom Come. Donāt miss the hot chocolate, music, and memories just waiting to be made! Play Friday & Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $3.50 per person.
10/25-10/27: Fall Arts Weekend- Pine Mountain Settlement School presents a weekend course of Appalachian crafts on their historic campus along with entertainment and farm fresh home made food! Choose from blacksmithing & broommaking, basketry, or foraging. Registration is required. You can register at www.pinemountainsettlementschool.com
10/26: Track & Field Supermeet- Multiple regions will converge on Harlan County High School as hundreds of athletes compete in all day track & field events.
10/26: Howl-o-Ween- Come to the Harlan Dog Park for this dog centered event. Trick or Treat around the park for dog treats, enter the costume contest, or go home with a new friend through on-site animal adoption. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with the costume contest at 6 p.m.
10/26: Halloween Guided Canvas Painting- The artists at Willing Hearts, Inc. will lead you through a step by step process of completing a painted Halloween scene from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reserve your spot at www.willingheartsinc.org
10/26: The Portal Halloween Party- Haunt your way to The Portal for live music, games, a costume contest, and more at The Portalās annual Halloween party. Donāt miss the spooky fun in the AfterHours Lounge from 8 p.m. to Midnight.
10/26: Harlan County Beer Company Halloween Party- Enjoy DJ Aaron Simpson and killer drinks as you party the night away at the Harlan County Beer Company. Costumes arenāt required but there will be an award for best costume so dress your best. The fun goes on from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
