It doesn't matter if you say, "Feliz Navidad", "Joyeux Noel", "Frohe Weihnachten", or "Buon Natale", it’s still Merry Christmas! Christmas is celebrated all over the world in many, many different ways. Help us spark the magic of Christmas and the excitement of the season during the Miracles Christmas Parade. Please join us on 34th Street in Lubbock for our version of "A Family Christmas." The para

de starts promptly at 6:00 PM and includes lighted units for that extra special effect. Spectators start gathering early in the evening to get the perfect spot to watch marching bands, fire trucks, families, beauty queens, horses, dozens of decorated floats, honored guest and much more. The primary reason for the parade is to give back to the community and to promote an atmosphere of family fun, family entertainment, and togetherness. Each year, the parade will benefit the United States Marines “Toys for Tots”. Each year, we will work to make Christmas a magical season for families on the South Plains, and a time of sharing with those in need. There will be a "Toys for Tots" campaign conducted by the U.S. Marines and the Miracles Christmas Parade. Families will be invited to bring toys to the parade. Marines will march along the route and collect toys from the attending families. Together, the citizens of Lubbock and surrounding communities will "Fill the Float". Hot chocolate, coffee, and hot apple cider will be sold at various locations along the parade route to benefit Lubbock charitable organizations. Including Lubbock Independent School Bands. The Miracles Christmas Parade promises to become one of the largest and most important events in the region. Over 30,000 people attending the parade each year. Each year, the event will grow until it is the primary Christmas event in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. Families have begun a tradition of "camping out" at the same location each year. Spectators will gather along 34th Street to enjoy this new holiday event.

Toys for Tots: Spreading Holiday Cheer Since 1947

The Toys for Tots program, managed by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, has been a beacon of hope for less fortunate children during the holiday season since its inception in 1947. The initiative, inspired by Diane Hendricks, wife of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, began when Diane handcrafted dolls to donate to children in need. Unable to find an existing organization to distribute them, Bill and his Marine Corps Reserve colleagues collected and delivered 5,000 toys that first year.

Mission and Management
The mission of Toys for Tots is to bring joy and inspire hope in economically disadvantaged children, encouraging them to grow into responsible, productive citizens. The program is run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, with Marines and volunteers gathering new, unwrapped toys from donation boxes placed in local businesses. These toys are then sorted and distributed to children in need across the United States, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Power of Generosity
Toys for Tots is built on the principle that one small act of kindness can spark a chain reaction. Much like a "pay-it-forward" gesture at a drive-thru, Toys for Tots relies on collective goodwill to sustain its efforts. Over the years, the program has distributed millions of toys, with diverse supporters including celebrities, corporations, and even first ladies like Nancy Reagan, Michelle Obama, and Melania Trump.

Facts About Toys for Tots

A Woman’s Vision: Diane Hendricks’ idea of giving sparked the creation of Toys for Tots.

Nationwide Impact: The Marine Corps adopted the initiative nationwide in 1948.

Disney’s Role: Walt Disney designed the program’s iconic train logo.

Growth Through Goodness: People’s desire to help has fueled the program’s expansion.

Philanthropic Recognition: Toys for Tots made the Philanthropy 400 list in 2001.

Special Circumstances: The organization has supported children affected by disasters, such as Hurricane Andrew and 9/11.

Strategic Headquarters: The program operates near Marine Base Quantico, VA.

Corporate Support: Toy manufacturers like Hasbro and Build-a-Bear are key sponsors, donating millions of toys.

Promoting Literacy: Beyond toys, Toys for Tots has distributed millions of books.

Enduring Impact: Despite challenges, the program aims to distribute over six million toys annually.

Chain Reaction of Giving
Toys for Tots embodies the spirit of paying it forward. Just like a small act of generosity at a fast-food line can inspire dozens of similar acts, the program continues to rely on the goodwill of individuals and organizations to bring holiday cheer to children.

How You Can Help
You can join the mission by donating new, unwrapped toys or even organizing collection drives in your community. Businesses like ServiceOne are also offering incentives, such as discounts on services, for customers who donate toys.

Every toy you give is more than a gift—it’s a symbol of hope, love, and the belief in a brighter future for all children. Let’s keep the chain reaction of kindness going!

What is a "Vintage Christmas", it refers to a holiday celebration, decor, or aesthetic inspired by styles and traditions from past decades, typically ranging from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century. It evokes nostalgia and incorporates classic elements that reflect the charm and character of earlier times. Here's a breakdown of what a vintage Christmas might include:

Decorations:

1. Ornaments:
- Hand-blown glass baubles, often in bright metallic colors.
- Figurines such as Santa Claus, angels, snowmen, or animals.
- Shiny bright ornaments, popular in the 1940s–50s.
- Mercury glass or antique-looking finishes.

2. Tree Trimmings:
- Tinsel garlands or strands.
- Popcorn and cranberry garlands (especially in early 20th century styles).
- Candle-shaped lights or actual candles (though real ones are less common today for safety reasons).
- Vintage-style tree toppers like stars or angels.

3. Other Decor:
- Ceramic Christmas trees with built-in lights.
- Retro wreaths with holly, mistletoe, and pinecones.
- Mid-century aluminum trees paired with rotating color wheels.
- Nostalgic village scenes with snow-covered houses.

Colors and Patterns:
- Classic red, green, gold, and silver dominate, often with soft pastel accents like teal or pink (especially for mid-century themes).
- Plaid patterns, candy cane stripes, and snowflake motifs.

Music and Entertainment:
- Classic holiday songs by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Nat King Cole.
- Watching black-and-white Christmas movies such as *It's a Wonderful Life* or *White Christmas*.
- Reading vintage holiday stories like *A Christmas Carol* by Charles Dickens.

Gifts and Wrapping:
- Handmade gifts or retro-style toys like trains, wooden puzzles, and dolls.
- Wrapping paper with nostalgic prints or tied with simple ribbons and string.

Food and Traditions:
- Baking traditional Christmas cookies (e.g., sugar cookies, gingerbread).
- Serving holiday classics like fruitcake, eggnog, or roast turkey.
- Reenacting old-fashioned customs, like caroling or lighting Advent candles.

Why People Love It:
A vintage Christmas is cherished for its warmth and simplicity, offering a contrast to the fast-paced, commercialized aspects of modern holidays. It invites people to slow down and reconnect with timeless traditions and aesthetic charm.
