Once again we bring you interesting facts about Handel's MESSIAH that you may not have already known! Facts like this one: Handel originally wrote MESSIAH for a smaller group of performers. The ensemble for whom he wrote is thought to have had around 20 musicians and 15 singers at the outside. Once again, it was the Victorians who made the change, packing the Crystal Palace with hundreds of musicians and up to 5,000 singers. With this many people it could take up to five hours to get through a perfromance, and thus a perforamnce often made space for a dinner break.

The Lubbock Chorale proudly presents Handel's MESSIAH, in collaboration with LCU Choirs, December 7, 2024 at 7:30 PM in the Crickets Theatre in Buddy Holly Hall! Tickets are on presale now!
