From Joyce LaLone:
Kay was my 1st unofficial mentor when I decided to become a teacher. We’ve been friends for over 50 years! Whenever our families would spent time together on the weekends we would all pile out of our cars with our suitcases and then there came Kay, suitcase, backpack, school bag, yes she was prepared for the weekend. When I shared with her that I’d like to become a teacher she was thrilled to help me but also to tell me it wasn’t easy. Although, I saw the sparkle of love in her beautiful blue eyes and the kindness in her voice when she would share stories about her students with me. I became a better teacher with all her help and found how wonderful it was to be surrounded everyday with “kiddos” of my own. Kay couldn’t give me all her wisdom and strategies about teaching, she is one of a kind. I know her students have been fortunate to spend their days with her encouraging and caring for them. She is going to miss teaching tremendously but I’m hoping for her that she can travel a little lighter and relax a little more.
Happy retirement my dear friend!😘
