While out for my morning walk with the pups, we encountered a group of tree huggers: a very big Mama Bear and her 3 cubs! Even though the dogs were trying to act tough, we turned around quickly. I returned with my real camera and my zoom lens so I could shoot from a safe and non-interfering distance. Big Mama was on alert, and so was I…!

My Chief Quality Inspectors checking the reclaimed barn board I use to make the frames for my photos. These particular boards are from an old barn in Charlotte and have lots of character (and old square nails!). This weekend is the Vermont Crafts Council Open Studio weekend. I will be at my gallery from 10am to 5pm on Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th, Located at 2 Lamere Square in Ludlow. I’ll have some special deals on all prints (framed and unframed). Look for the bright yellow signs statewide and stop by and support your local artists and artisans.

Getting an opportunity to take photos of any Vermont wildlife is always exciting for me and today was no exception. After unknowingly bumping into a moose yesterday, without my camera, I thought I’d see if she was still around today in the storm. She was, and as a bonus, her son was with her! Just watching these huge and gentle animals makes my day, but Getting the pic of them nose to nose was the icing on the cake! For anyone concerned: I was shooting on the opposite side of a brook and ravine with a strong telephoto lens. The last pic is from yesterday when Big Yella Stella realized that the moose was big, and barking wasn’t a good idea, so she bolted back to safety! # get outside

My neighbors driveway caught my eye while grabbing my mail tonight, so after dropping off the pups, I went back out with my camera The foggy light was reflecting off of the water filled ruts. I thought I’d add a ghostly selfie too.I’d prefer to be inspired by snow right now…hopefully soon!

Don’t forget to stop by for Open Studio Weekend. . I’ll be at my gallery at 2 Lamere Square in Ludlow from 10-5 Saturday and Sunday. As you may know, I use reclaimed barn board to make the frames for my photos. After choosing the plank, ripping it and cutting it to size, I apply two coats of urethane from Vermont Natural Coatings to each frame. It gives each frame a nice finish (and keeps the splinters down…!). I’ll be framing a bunch of new pieces for the weekend. Joining me will be my friend Betsy Johnson, who paints amazing watercolors. I’m located at 2 Lamere Square in Ludlow. Wherever you are in VT, it’s worth checking out some of your local artisans! For more info check out vermontcrafts.com or message me.

It was a good day at Killington and the the late afternoon sun mixed with the snowmaking created some great constrasty photo ops. There were a few brave souls skiing under the guns on Ovation and they sort of looked like apparitions. Glad I had my spare camera in the truck. Thanks for the motivation to get out there and

I love photographing old barns and structures in the snow. The storm on Friday was exceptional in that the snow was coming down so hard, it made for a cool effect in both color and B&W pics. These are a few of my favorites. And, I couldn’t pass up on the Original Killington gondola in my friends yard. Like a chariot waiting for a new set of wheels…

Two prints, one piece of reclaimed barn board. Both of these canvas prints, part of my secret stash series, are framed in one piece of barn board. It had a split in the middle of it, so I had to get creative while making the frames. It’s a unique opportunity to own the set. Why ski on trails when you can ski in the woods?? Stop by and check them out!

One of my recent additions to the gallery: “Southern Exposure.” This is a 35 x 40” canvas framed in reclaimed barn board.
I was excited when Lisa at ID three designs decided to use the same sized print, mounted in a floating frame, for a recent client. It looks pretty nice above the bed!
Any of you Okemo peeps out there recognize the trail??

As much as I’d like to sit inside by the fire when it’s 15 below zero, I love the opportunity to get out and take photos. There’s something amazing about the purity of the air at that temperature. These unique frost and ice formations only really happen at these temperatures, so it was worth braving the cold. Enjoy!

While a good snowstorm can put a smile on anyone’s face, these guys had an even bigger reason to celebrate. Even though we had to change locations and resort to plan C due to the High winds, John still managed to pull off a big surprise for his now fiancé Nadia. Congrats to on your engagement! It’s always fun posing at a mountain photographer, I guess my years of experience paid off. The walking bridge at Killington mountain resort was the perfect spot!

Do you need some wall art? I can get any size made! I just delivered and installed this 4‘ x 6‘ canvas print for some clients. I took this photo titled “Chapel in the Woods” On a snowy spring day at the Trapps Family Lodge Nordic Skiing Center in Stowe.
I hand made the frame and used reclaimed Barn board, stained with a whey based black urethane from Vermont natural coatings. Thanks to Chris at Phototec in Rutland for printing and mounting the canvas on gator board. This is the largest print I have ever made, and it was a fun challenge to build the frame and just deliver and hang the artwork.

“Blanketed.”
I think it is appropriate that I made this frame from reclaimed wood from a sugarhouse that was ruined during tropical storm Irene to frame this photo of a different Sugar House. i’m sure a lot of you locals know where this is!
It is a 20x 30” printed on canvas and then mounted and framed.
Stop my by my gallery this weekend at 47 Depot Street in Ludlow to check it out! Stay tuned for a winter version of the same sugarhouse. I was lucky enough to catch it after the big storm, but I’m still working on the framing. Thanks to Chris at Phototec for the amazing printing job!
