Our barn is stuffed to the rafters with bunnies, llamas, and a broody duck mama (who is sitting on chicken eggs 😂). Horses are tucked in their outdoor shelters. Chickens are on their own but I left the little coop door open for the ones who hadn’t made it back in. 😅
I never know if I should leave animals out to be exposed to flying debris or lock them up at the risk of a barn falling on them. We have to just hope for the best! Stay safe everyone!

Everyone is very curious about Heart’s jacket! 🦙 She has a thinner natural coat and was shivering even when kushed deep inside the barn after a hearty meal. The others seem unfazed by the cold. Now she’s ready to make snow llamas! ❄️

Homeschooling families, we are having Open House tonight! SAGA Nature Academy has all the event details. SAGA is located on property, has certified and experienced teachers, and is a drop-off program for your 6-12 year olds that hosts classes 2 days a week year-round. If you're new to homeschooling and need support, or if you just want to supplement what you're currently doing, we got you!! Come on out and see what everyone is excited about.

Up for adoption. 🐇 We have a really sweet neutered male looking for a new home. He lost his cage mate last year and we haven’t been able to find a companion for him that he tolerates without chasing around. 😅 We think he would do really well as a pet in a family home instead. He is litter box trained, keeps his space clean, and likes to sit in your lap and be pet. Really a sweet guy with kids who we would keep for parties if he wasn’t so lonely. Let me know if you think you are the right fit for him!

HUGE NEWS! We are opening a year-round hybrid microschool at the ranch. Students will attend drop-off classes twice a week! Please share with your friends and family who homeschool, unschool, or were thinking about alternative educational options for their kiddos ages 6-12! 🌿

Hi! My name is Olivia Richardson, the founder of SAGA Nature Academy. I've been a teacher for 11 years, and I live with my family at Cairn Ridge Ranch in Luther, Oklahoma. I am so excited to provide educational opportunities for the homeschool community in this area. At SAGA, we learn outdoors, get muddy, take care of farm animals, go on nature hikes, read magical stories, and dive into practical learning of all subjects together. We had the opportunity to walk in Luther’s 125th bday parade earlier this month. Four of our riding lesson students (and their families) joined us in the fun! We walked llamas and Blondie, and I rode Murphy. Our 2 year old, Walker, decided last minute not to ride Blondie, so Auntie Marcia came to the rescue to wrangle the toddler! 👸 We are so thankful for good friends and calm animals! ❤️

We are ok here, but the fire that was 3.5 miles NW of us was scary. We were ready to evacuate if needed. Thank you to the local agencies who worked tirelessly to keep us safe - and to everyone who texted to check on us and offer help! ❤️

Never am I more reminded of how lucky we are than when I’m listening to animals munch hay on a chilly winter morning. 🤌 Life on the ranch has been sweet this last month. Eggs are returning (finally! Including some new layers - peep the baby egg, called a fairy egg), our farm hand is growing, and our sweet dogs make life fun. Feeling all the blessings this morning! What are you up to today?

Built a new coop with an exterior access to eggs. Have gotten barely 1-2 eggs per day since they have been in there (16 hens!). Just saw this galoot lift up a flap, take an egg, and eat the whole thing in one bite! Trying bungee cords for now. 🙄😅
