Another week over here.

I LOVE that every last stem in these beauties was either grown on my soil or on a nearby flower-farming friend’s. Thank you Eidle Wilde Flower Farm & Designs and C & D Floral and Produce for sharing your bounty. 😘

I even had enough leftover short stemmed bitties to put together a sweet something for the North County Christ the King front desk. 🥰

Flowers bring me such a sense of peace and joy. There’s something so relaxing and soul-filling in the dilly-dallying down rows of flowers, snipping your picks and then mixing up a masterpiece.
But I’m sure you’re with me in the ‘I Love Flowers’ club… probably preaching to the choir here! 🤭😂

Well… not gonna lie, life has been nuts for this flower farming Mama lately, so I was so happy to spend some flower-therapy time in my shop today.

It’s high time for a new proper ‘Hello’!
I haven’t met so many of you in person (yet), so we’ll have to settle for a virtual introduction.

I’m Tiffany. 🙋🏼‍♀️ I like flowers… a lot. I also like people. And my family. And my land and animals. And music. And all things creative. And my Jesus. If you too, enjoy any of those things, I’m so glad you’re here!

My husband Dillon and I bought our farmhouse and property from his dear maternal grandparents, who used to run a dairy farm here called ‘Maidenfair Holsteins’. You see, Grandpa Ivan and Grandma Kay raised 3 fair maidens in this house, just as we are now. How neat is that? They did cows, we do flowers, but the maidens we have in common. So the Maidenfair in the name is a heartfelt nod to the land’s history and gives honor to those dear to us. We are so blessed to be continuing the legacy of family and farming on the same dirt as our loved ones.

I absolutely LOVE that my crazy, smart, spunky and cute maidens get to grow up here, running in the flower fields, building campfires, exploring hay mows, chasing cats, sledding on snow drifts and spotting summer stars. ⭐️ This business has grown out of my desire to be here with my kids while they’re small, but still keep my hands busy and do what I can to help support our family and dreams.

Who else is excited for buckets full ‘o blooms come summer?!

Seriously one of my most favorite things to do on the planet is walk through my rows of Dahlias, taking note of their individual beauty - the colors, the shapes, the styles, their habits and personalities. Overwhelmed by their gorgeousness and the intricacies of God’s designed creation down to each petal and leaf.
😲🤓😍

A few varieties are sold out, but still over 50 are available in my tuber shop. I start shipping first week of April, or if you’re local to Lynden, WA, you can skip the shipping cost and grab them at the farm April 13.

Ok Party People… Today’s the day!!

Online Dahlia Tuber Sale is LIVE!

If you’ve never grown these wonders before, here’s how it works:
• I send you a strange ugly looking root thing (it will be stamped with its variety name and will have a visible eye where the plant sprouts from.)
• You keep it somewhere cool and dry, wait until the lilacs are blooming (or late April/early May in our zone) and pop it in the ground a few inches down with the eye pointing up.
• Exercise patience here. Then watch as that little sprout becomes a whole bushy plant giving you tons of stems of beautiful blossoms to cut and enjoy. 😍
• Get addicted and want new varieties next year. Sorry, it’s just what happens! 🤷‍♀️😂

At this time I can’t ship to Canada 😫. But here in the US I will ship to you with USPS priority mail, flat rate boxes. OR if you’re local to Lynden WA, and want to skip the shipping fee, you can pick up at our spring market on the farm April 13.

I’ve settled on 60 varieties/cultivars to offer in my shop collection this year, and I think you’re gonna love them!

Please note that each item is temporarily labeled as ‘Out of Stock’, which allows you to see them before the sale is live. On Friday morning at 9am, they will no longer be up for viewing so I can update each stock quantity for the main event starting at 10am.

**FARM ANNOUNCEMENT** 👀

I’ve been knee-deep in Dahlia tuber clumps lately - rinsing and then snipping away the junk to unveil the plump healthy tubers to separate and prep for sale. So in other words… yes, I will have tubers for sale again this year! *heels click* I get ridiculously pumped about sharing their beauty with you!

I don’t have all the details yet, but here’s what I can answer now:

1. Which varieties are available? OVER 50, INCLUDING A GOOD MIX OF SIZE, COLOR, AND FORM.

2. Shipping or local pick-up? BOTH! WE WILL SHIP ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL US FOR THE USPS FLAT BOX RATE. WE WILL ALSO HAVE A SATURDAY MARKET AND PICK UP AT THE FARM (INCLUDING OTHER PLANTS/ACCESSORIES/SUPPLIES) FOR WHATCOM COUNTY LOCALS TO AVOID SHIPPING FEES.

3. When will you ship? AFTER FREEZING TEMPS HAVE EASED UP TO PROTECT THE PRECIOUS PACKAGE. PLANNING ON LATE MARCH INTO EARLY APRIL.

4. Are you a licensed nursery? YES! WE ARE INSPECTED AND ENDORSED BY THE WA STATE DEPT. OF AG, AND SHIPPED PACKAGES WILL BE LABELED AS SUCH.

5. How will the sale work? THE SALE WILL BE RUN THROUGH OUR WEBSITE LATER THIS MONTH. VARIETIES WILL BE UP FOR VIEWING SOON - SOME OF WHICH WILL BE LIMITED QUANTITIES, SO ONCE THE SALE IS OPEN PLEASE REMEMBER THAT NO SELECTION/SALE IS SECURE UNTIL CHECK OUT HAS BEEN COMPLETED.

Last week was flower week! Got to meet some new 2024 subscribers and catch up with others after the holidays. ❤️

I like the way these beauties turned out. I had a clean, fresh, simple design in my mind, and it was so fun to take them from imagination to reality. After I got my fresh ingredients in, I felt like they needed some texture and softening, so I added some preserved Italian Ruscus, Bunny Tails and dried Statice. 😍

Next month, I’m planning to replace simple and clean, with vibrant and bold for Valentines Day fun. 🥳

Time for a shout-out to the splendid individuals who helped me get buttoned up for the winter this year. I had some superheroes join me in lifting row covers, cutting stalks and digging tuber clumps. Step by step with their help, I managed to get 140 crates full of dahlia goodness carefully tucked away in my shop. Thank you .tuben Alexa, and my dear mom. Oh and I cannot forget my littlest lady, Livi who cuddled kitties and kept me company outside all the while.

Can’t wait to share some of these little plant wonders with you all in the spring. 🫵🏻🥰

Tulips are all tucked in for winter.
talking about tulips with you the other day, I think I said I only had 300 or so to plant, right? Wrong. More like 1200. 😂 Things seem to multiply at a faster rate on flower farms. Plus I had to snag a few new varieties because… well, just because. 🤦‍♀️😍

I do still have some new bulbs leftover from planting if anyone wants some - Black Parrot and Drumline. On my site. 😉

My field is still hanging on, but I’m going to have to force myself to start cutting down. Hard to say goodbye to all the beauty but I want to be ahead of the freezing/wet weather if I can! 🤞🏻

Further evidence that humans are cool!

I’m sure we’ve all had our fair share of interactions with people that have been less than positive, but every now and then we get a sweet surprise that completely restores our faith in humanity.

This card I received in my mail box this week was just what I needed to give me a little boost of encouragement and enthusiasm to head into the fall clean up season outside. 1400 Dahlia clumps don’t dig themselves. But it’s worth the labor of love to know that I can share the beauty with others who appreciate it as much as I do!

Keep being cool, people. I’m grateful for you!

My flowers have now traveled from my field to a local home and then on to Wyoming and Minnesota. They are living the life! Next time can I come with? I love road trips! 😂

If you’re growing Dahlias, and you rinse them to divide, you know as well as I do that it is a messy messy job! …Enter crafty farmer husband… @dhoncoop1 My guy saw the back-breaking volume of clumps I needed to rinse and came up with this plan: - moveable washing station - adjustable height straining grate - system to catch the muck while releasing the liquid With the help of the old tractor and loader bucket I can throw a whole crate’s worth of clumps on to the strainer to rinse. All the dirt and water drops into the loader bucket (not all over my feet!) where it keeps the gunk and slowly releases the water through tiny holes, making a clean stream across the gravel drive. Ahhh. 😍 You might not have to spend big bucks on a fancy machine or system, just get yourself an innovative make-do farmer-type guy to come up with creative solutions to help you get things done!! 😉😂 What systems have you come up with to make your gardening/farming easier? Once again, I’m pleasantly surprised and impressed by people. I was originally disappointed when I discovered part of my tulip bulb order had been refunded, which meant I wouldn’t get some of the beauties I had chosen. But yesterday I received my box from The Flower Hat and found that Julio had snuck in some bulb surprises free of charge and a sweet note explaining the change. What a guy!
