The best part of being a wedding planner is knowing my couples can be fully present for moments like this.

Sometimes what you need most on your wedding day is simply someone in your corner. 💜

Happy first anniversary, Sarah & Scott. 🤍

Sarah and I have been friends for 30+ years. We’ve grown up together, walked through different seasons of life together, and collected more memories than I could ever fit into one Instagram caption or account.

Getting to stand beside her on one of the biggest days of her life was an honor I will never take for granted.

And getting to watch her marry Scott?

That was extremely special, too. ❤️

Being a wedding planner has given me the privilege of witnessing so many couples begin this next chapter together.

But sometimes, you get the beautiful gift of stepping out from behind the clipboard and experiencing it with someone you love.

This past week has been a little glimpse into that side of my life; and a reminder that being part of someone’s wedding party is about so much more than a dress, a bouquet, or where you stand in the ceremony.

It’s about the people.

The memories.

The little moments.

And the privilege of saying, “I’ll stand beside you.”

Behind the Bouquet 🌸 |

When I think back on Sarah’s wedding day, I don’t just remember the big moments.

I remember the little things.

Helping with her dress.
Making sure everything was sitting just right before she walked out the door.
And, of course, making sure that her train actually made it down the aisle dirt free.

None of those moments made it onto the timeline as a major event.

But they’re the moments that made being her Matron of Honor feel so special.

They’re the ones you simply notice.

Your friend needs someone to fix her veil.

She needs another set…or sometimes sets… of hands with her dress.

She needs someone to tell her, “You look beautiful.”

Sometimes being part of a wedding party really is that simple.

Pay attention. Be present. Notice what your person needs.

You don’t have to make yourself indispensable. You just have to be willing to help when the moment calls for it. 🤍

And those little moments? They may end up being some of the ones you treasure most. 🌸

Behind The Bouquet 🌸

There’s a running rule my husband established early on when it comes to weddings involving friends:

You either get Abbey the planner and pay her… or you get Abbey the friend and hire someone else to plan. 😂

The first photo is how most people have seen me; name tag on, white gloves on, making sure every detail is exactly where it needs to be.

That’s Abbey the planner.

But the second photo?

That’s Abbey the friend.

Sitting in a limo with my best friend of 32 years and the girls she chose to stand beside her, with nothing for me to coordinate.

No timeline. No vendor questions. No problems to solve.

Just laughter, excitement, and being fully present.

And I think there’s a lesson in that for every wedding party:

You don’t have to know how to run a wedding to be an incredible bridesmaid, groomsman, MOH, or Best Man.

Your job isn’t to become the planner.

Your job is to support the people you love well.

That support doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s usually the small things, showing up on time, knowing where you need to be, paying attention, and stepping in when something simple needs doing.

So here’s my tip: 👇

Ask the couple and their planner what would be most helpful before the wedding day. Get clear on your roles expectations, understand the timeline, and know who to go to with questions so the couple isn’t pulled into logistics.

Then trust the plan.

Let the planner handle the flow. Let the couple stay present. Let yourself actually enjoy the experience instead of managing it.

Behind the Bouquet 🌸 |
Some people you stand beside for a season. Some people you stand beside for a lifetime.

I’ve had the privilege of being Sarah’s friend for 30+ years, and last year, I had the incredible honor of standing beside her as she married the love of her life.

There’s something really special about being asked to stand beside someone on their wedding day.

Not because of the dress, the bouquet, the title, or where you stand during the ceremony.

But because someone you love is saying, “I want you beside me for this.”

Being part of a wedding party is an honor and a responsibility. Sure, you’re there to celebrate the happy moments,

But you’re also there for the quiet moments. The nerves. The happy tears. The deep breaths. The moments when your friend needs someone to remind them to slow down and take it all in.

And sometimes, standing beside someone simply means being the person they can look at and know, “I’ve got you.”

That’s what I think the honor of being part of a wedding party really means. 🤍

Behind the Bouquet 🌸 | Day 1

A little over one year ago, I stood beside one of my dearest friends of 30+ years as her Matron of Honor.

I’ve been extremely honored to stand in many wedding parties over the years, and even more often, to be the wedding planner or coordinator behind the scenes.

Each role has taught me something different: one is about protecting the experience, the other is about living it right alongside them.

And sometimes, the most meaningful thing you can do is simply be present.

So in honor of Sarah and Scott’s first anniversary, over the next week I’m putting down the clipboard and timeline to give you a glimpse Behind the Bouquet as a MOH/ Bridesmaid.🤍

Krizia & Larry’s wedding was filled with so much joy, love, and celebration. Like many wedding days, it came with a few unexpected moments along the way (including a surprise fire alarm evacuation during the reception!).

While their guests stepped outside and the situation was handled, our focus stayed exactly where it belonged: keeping the couple calm, communicating with vendors, and making sure the celebration could continue seamlessly once everyone was back inside.

As Krizia shared in her online review:

“Her calm demeanor the day of our wedding is a reflection of her experience as a wedding planner and coordinator…”

This is why I do what I do. Not because every wedding day goes perfectly according to plan, but because couples deserve to be fully present in their memories while someone experienced is protecting the details behind the scenes.
