It has taken a few days between events and bookings to get in some time, but we are beginning to see all the possibilities! This is seating for 132 in this room with a dance floor and room for a 12 x 24 stage on the back wall! Could easily add a few more tables, to get to 150 seats or more! Plenty of room at entrance and bar. Maybe a beautiful cake table near the front doors. Still room for 72 seats in the room behind the bar. Brides are loving it!!

Still cleaning and electrical to do this weekend, but for the moment all is quiet. More than 25 years ago one man had a vision for an over grown lot and two empty buildings in a mostly vacant downtown Macon. Marco Danese saw something most couldn’t. We should all be thankful to him for his vision then and his trust now for doing something different. Still amazing as it ever was, now only better! Check out the calendar and grab the last of those 2024 dates cause the email is blowing up!!!

January 2024 will bring some big changes to The Blacksmith Shop. By mid January there will be 3,600 sq feet of wide open floor space, no raised area, stairs or “broken glass”. This will offer more opportunities for mass seating, dance floors and creating amazing events which we have already been doing for 20 years!

The Courtyard

When you walk through those gates and into the courtyard it feels like a world far removed from downtown Macon. Since the buildings original conception in the early 2000’s the space has seen a number of changes. What started as an overgrown vacant lot was quickly transformed into private areas with tall hedges and herb gardens, perfect for al fresco dinning. Later improvements gave way to smaller shrubs and an more open concept, which is what clients and guest have enjoyed for the last decade.

In that time the trees have grown into beautiful shaded canopies, the space now has the feel of something that has aged well with time and we find ourselves in 2018 looking toward the future and the changing world of events, weddings and the space. .

Since its inception, the courtyard has been the backdrop of countless cocktail hours, introductions, outdoor bars, games and over the last few years more and more wedding ceremonies. With wedding ceremonies in mind, we began looking at ways to increase the seating capacity for the space. In doing anything, we like to reach out to the very best and Wymberly Tredwell who originally designed the amazing space was the first call we made and her new plan and concept was exceptional Over the next few months the space will continue to transform in small ways that will nearly double our seating capacity for a ceremony and as we move into the 2019 season the space will be able to accomodate 150-175 seated guests for a ceremony.

Don’t fret the trees are staying, all of the things that you love including the wonderful aroma of tea olives, the landscape lighting, the fountain and garden walls, will still be present just in a new imagined way. The progress will be slow and well planned so that our guest won’t even realize anything has changed. The exciting news is that these changes will lead us into yet another period in this remarkable building’s history.
