On behalf of the Madison Hmong New Year Committee, we understand everyone has the right to vent and post on social media. We have always reviewed the feedbacks so we can continue to improve, however, we do not tolerate any direct threats or accusations to our committee members and volunteers (e.g. volunteers, MCs, and judges). When a person's safety is at risk, we will not tolerate this action. We have built our processes to be the most transparent, where all teams are aware of who the judges are and what they will be scored on before the competition. Teams specifically complained about our sound system and we were able to fix it. If teams truly had an issue with a judge, they have reached out privately for us to switch the judge, and yes we did switch out the judges. We have gone above and beyond to provide private changing areas, welcome all teams with treats, and provide opportunities to provide feedback throughout the competition. With competitions, there are lots of emotions involved, but please do not cyber bully or threaten anyone. This action shows your character to the world more then you may want people to know. Due to Mini-Elite having issues, we will be reassessing if we want to continue this competition next year. Thank you to everyone who came out to support us at the MHNY this past weekend. It's an amazing thing when our community comes together to celebrate!

When I assembled our 2023-2024 MHNY team, I told my team that this will be our "Prove It Year." We had an amazing new year celebration coming out of the pandemic that surprised many in 2022-2023, but there were many opportunities to improve. As a team, we pride ourselves on being advocates of change to improve our community's new year experience by listening to our people.

This year, we:
- Added an extra hall because space was a constraint last year.
- Shifted our eating area to create food line space, allowing better flow for our food vendors.
- Added a spacious ball-tossing area.
- Added Community Leadership awards to acknowledge our exemplary leaders in our community.
- Added a cultural exhibit and gave out FREE ncuav to embrace our heritage.
- Added more to our grand entrance so when people walked in, they felt proud to be HMONG.
- Held a concert-style party on Friday night so we can have more of a traditional Salavan dance party on Saturday night.

Despite these improvements, our stance remains the same, we will take in the feedback this year and continue to improve on everyone's experience. As a leader, I will be the first to tell you that I'm not perfect, I will make mistakes and wrong decisions, but I will continue to learn from them. The same can be said for my team, they are resilient in their aspirations to have a beautiful celebration for our Hmong community.

We also had a hiccup with our rock wall because our supplier had mechanical issues that would prevent them from getting setup this weekend, I tried several other options to get the rock wall in, but with the short turnaround, we couldn't make it happen. I sincerely apologize for that, I know many of the kids were looking forward to it.

With that being said, we're on to MHNY 2024-2025. Mark your calendars, November 2nd-3rd, 2024, same location!

On behalf of the Chairman and the Madison Hmong New Year Committee, we sincerely apologize to our dance teams. As it is our first year running a Mini Elite competition, there was an error in the Mini Elite final scores for second and third place. Lotus should be the 2nd place winner and Venus should have been 3rd. As it is our error, we have asked Venus to keep the prize money and we have increased Lotus's prize money to the value of second place. We spoke to all teams involved and personally apologized to their coach. We understand we cannot mend the broken hearts of our mini elite dancers while delivering this devasting news. However, we want all teams to know we empathize with you and we are just as devastated. Please know we will review our scoring system again and be better next year. Thank you for competing in our competition and know you are all winners in our hearts.
