What is magic?

The alchemy of the eye's absorption of light, color and form to awe and inspiration.

The inexplicable allure of shadow, stems hanging just, a petal dropped

Stem growth cut, to capture movement in suspension - flowing outwards, upwards, downwards, forwards to escape words...

Flowers are this magic 🌿

Organic alchemists whose blessed trickery is to hold our hearts captive in wonder.

This was a series of bouquets of 100% local flowers - amazingly smelling stock and dianthus from , wildcrafted sweet clover and queen annes lace, and native white yarrow from my garden - for the 'wildflower meadow' look

This Valentine's Day, enjoy the gift of playing in flowers together and designing with locally-sourced pressed flowers and foliage.

I personally harvested and pressed over 50% of these plants to achieve those vibrant, bold and fresh colors in pressed form.

Come by yourself (we'll love on ya don't worry), with a plus one, with a sister, mother, grandmother or just your favorite person.

This December we hosted our first flower petal ornament workshops with 100% of the plants used sourced from CT farms and fields and harvested, dried and packed by me. Phew, I won't say it wasn't a lot of work, but boy where these colors bright and bold! I used plants from my garden, , and more.

This is a seasonal workshop offered September through December, where guests fill clear globes of different sizes with different colored flower petals and plants.

The finished products are a beautiful blend of summers bounty and your creativity, encapsulated. They can decorate a holiday tree or just be hung from strategic places… in windows, from shelves or anywhere else that inspires you ✨

What a sweet, sweet gathering of wahine this was! Mahalo for holding the space on your beautiful farm in Waimea, for us to create lei po'o together.

It never ceases to amaze me what magic emerges during these gatherings, as the flowers do their work on us...

Every gathering becomes its own creative story, as we wili not only lei, but our own story together, memories, laughs and beauty. So grateful - mahalo 🙏🏽

Back in Hawai'i nei for the month of December teaching floral arts workshops.

Feeling blessed and grateful for the opportunity to spend time in a place that has given me so much 🌺

Learning new styles of lei-making, reconnecting with with 'olelo Hawai'i (Hawaiian language) and breathing with the 'aina again are feeding me in ways that only Hawai'i can.

Every go around, I see, hear and feel things that push me forward on my path of personal evolution, bringing a conscious business into the world for the growth and cultivation of the heart and one's personal joy. That is work I channel with na pua - the flowers - who also have their lessons in subtle energy and preferred usage.

The journey continues, 'IMUA!

What a day this was!

Hosting a pressed flower workshop as the main activity at the August gathering of the Women's Business Development Center in Hartford was the highlight of my summer!

Mahalo to all the women who made this a special day and supported Puale'a Floral's growth and expansion!

Not only did we make some seriously fun memories, everyone took home a framed, glorious art piece THEY made themselves.

Grateful for the incredible guidance offered by the mentors and business coaches at the WBDC in Connecticut. Cannot recommend their classes and services enough!

I'm excited to announce this winter we'll be delving into other floral, design, workshops beside the lei arts.

Stay tuned for an updated calendar early January with workshops until the first signs of spring in March.

Then we'll go live again... (literally) with live plant workshops in April and lei-making offerings around CT.

Nov 7th small wedding order! ✨

One of the best parts of sourcing flowers for this wedding was finding local Queen Anne's Lace for the final touch and local white snapdragons from in Madison that had survived a frost. They still smelled DIVINE! Thanks Ashley...

We do small weddings 💍 with a specialty for finding specialty local flowers and supporting small growers/farmers across the state.

Maile-style to leaf lei 🌿

In case you missed it in the last post:

This style of lei is a popular alternative to using difficult to find maile vine. Maile is coveted for its potent and intoxicating scent, released when the leaves are gently crushed during hugging and embraces.

This style uses ti leaf instead - for a similar appearance and honoring of formal ceremonies without the harvest pressure on wild growing maile.
