Tom Dowd (US record producer, engineer; Atlantic Records) was born on this date in 1925. He died on October 27, 2002, aged 77.
Thomas John Dowd was a recording engineer and producer for Atlantic Records. He was credited with innovating the multitrack recording method. Dowd worked on a veritable "who's who" of recordings that encompassed blues, jazz, pop, rock and soul records. as posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. The ceremony took place on April 14, 2012, and Robbie Robertson gave the induction speech.
