We had so much fun in our first year as Cap City Cyclists. Forar too many great memories and pictures to fill in a 10 photo limit (seriously, why do some accounts get to post more, and others less?).

Thank you to everyone who came out this year to ride with us, on a Mad Town Mondays ride, a special edition long Ramble, or one of our many holiday or challenge rides. Always fun, always a little unpredictable!

Thank you to for passing the Party Pace Monday ride to us, we hope we kept the Monday 40 spirit alive!

We are very much looking forward to 2025 and what the new year will bring! We learned a lot of lessons in our first year, and there will be some shifts to reflect those lessons learned in the new year for sure.

Keep an eye out for a survey, which is your opportunity to give us feedback on what you liked, what you thought could be better, and overall any suggestions for Season 2!

More fun, more community, and more bikes in 2025!!!

A small but Intrepid crew for today's Festivus Solstice ride. It was so much fun. Thanks to
And At for the pre ride treats!
burdocks.trails was so nice to ride thanks to Rich and his rollers! The bonfire was impressive, even moreso for the sense of community and collective celebration.

While some years it's dreary and blah. This year we got some nice sunshine and a killer sunset to mark the shortest day!

Thanks for coming out everyone, I can't wait until next year already!

We're pondering some fun fat tired shenanigans in January too. Think winter fatbike relay race!

Hopefully things will be a little bit less muddy for this year's Festivus/Solstice ride, but we'll take whatever we get!

And it wouldn't be a fun muck about in the woods without some Festivus treats and beverages!

We'll be providing a deconstructed charcuterie board experience (as in, yummy stuff, just not tastefully placed on a cutting board), with vegan and non vegan options while supplies last.

We'll also have a cooler of sparkling water, hop water, and NA beers, again while supplies last. Feel free to bring your own stuff too!

As a reminder, we'll roll out of around 2:30pm and head over to the woods, so come early if you want some coffee! After farting around in the woods for awhile, we'll roll on over to the Olbrich Park Solstice Bonfire, probably around 4:30.

Bring a fatbike(suggested) or other offroad capable bike, and some lights!

See you this Saturday!

Did you think our awesome Holiday Lights Ride on Monday December 16th (6pm rollout from Orton Park) was our last for the year?

Oh no, we have one more ride in us, and it's a bit more adventurous! We're having a Solstice Festivus Ride!

That's right we have grievances to air, Feats of strength to perform, and an awesome solstice Bonfire to attend!

Saturday, December 21st, we're gonna meet up at at 2pm, and we'll rollout at 2:30(ish) to head out to .burdocks.trails to play around offroad for a little while.

When we're done having fun in the woods, we'll all head over to the always festive (and hopefully warmer) Olbrich Solstice Bonfire where we can enjoy the light of the fire on the shortest day of the year!

This ride is gonna be offroad, so a fatbike or mountain bike is strongly suggested. The weather could be cold, snowy, or mild and muddy. We'll ride in any weather that's not too cold or too icy! Bring appropriate cold weather gear, and maybe some $ if we decide to find somewhere to eat after the bonfire.

See you at on the 21st!!!

Have you been waiting to hear about our annual Holiday Lights Ride? Of course you have!

We'll, mark your calendar for next Monday, December 16th, because we're gonna have a festive time!

We'll meet as usual at Orton Park for a casual (11mph-ish) spin around Lake Monona and a detour into the Holiday Fantasy in Lights!

Once we're through, we'll get a fun group photo, and then finish our spin around the lake to for some post ride beverages and hangs!

This ride is a fun one, and decking your ride out in lights and holiday decor is highly recommended!

Keep an eye on the weather, and dress appropriately (layers!!!) and bring lots of lights, helmet, and flat kit!

See you at 6pm on December 16th!!!

It's almost time! The Small Business Saturday Shop Crawl is Tomorrow!

We can't wait to see everyone and take a fun little ride through the city to explore all the great local bike shops that keep our community pedaling! This is one of the most amazing rides of the year!

We'll be meeting at (557 North Street) at 9am, for some delicious coffee, and rolling out at 9:30 sharp, so show up early for coffee!

Here is our tentative schedule, which is packed so we're going to try hard to stick to our schedule this year.

Lunch stop will be quick at Zippy L**e!

9:45-10:15
10:25-11:00
11:15 - 11:45lube.coffee (lunch) 12:00 - 12:40
1:00 - 1:30
1:50-2:20
3:05-3:35
3:55-end!

If you want to join us for part of the route, you're welcome to start and end wherever along it you'd like! If you stop somewhere and you missed us, or we haven't been there yet, adjust accordingly!

Weather wise, it's going to be pretty cold out there, so please dress accordingly! Wear layers including a wind barrier, stout gloves and boots/shoes with very good insulation, and an ear covering hat! The good news is that if you need any of those things, our local shops have a lot of great winter riding gear, and we will be able to warm up at every stop!

Here's the route if you want to load it up and have it ready!

Cranksgiving is Tomorrow!!! Once again is showing up in the community to run the most festive and fun food drive of them all!

It's become a favorite event for so many, and it is a truly important opportunity for us to ride bikes and do good in our community.

We plan on being there, and we want you to come too! If you don't have someone else to ride with, yes you do, because you can ride with us! We'll be social pacing the manifest and having a lot of fun doing it!

Look for the giant turkey on a bike at the Capitol at 10:30am tomorrow!

Bring layers, and a bike/backpack that can carry a Thanksgiving meal!

See you then!

Hi friends. The last 24 hours have been a lot. We're all processing and working through things.

Please take care of yourselves and know that we're a community.

If any of you are like me () , you're struggling with restlessness and energy you need to get out

I really need a bike ride. So I'm going to go on one. If you'd like to join me tonight, that would be welcome. I don't really have a plan on a route, but it's definitely gonna be a f**k around sort of ride/pace. If there are enough of us interested, maybe we can find somewhere for food.

I'll be at the top of State St around 5:30, and I'll be ready to ride 15-20ish miles (maybe less).

Bring helmet, lights, a lock maybe, and your wonderful selves.

Our bike community is strong, and we're gonna need each other more than ever in this new future.

Mark your calendars, the 3rd Annual Small Business Saturday Shop Crawl is coming at you on Saturday November 30th!

This year we'll have more stops than ever before at your favorite local bike shops, and a nice little stop in the middle for some good food!

This ride is a favorite every year, and it's an excellent way to support our local shops that are there for us all year round while also exploring places you might not have been, and stocking up on all the gear you'll need for winter or for picking up gifts for all the loved ones in your life!

So prepare to shake off that heavy Thanksgiving meal coma and get some fresh air (and maybe some time away from the post election family discussions we all love so much)!

We'll start the day with some good coffee from at , and then roll out to all the shops! Exact route and order will be announced later, but this is an all day adventure, so feel free to come for a few shops, joi. In or jump out whenever, or ride the whole dang thing with us!

More details to come!

Hey there everyone, are you stoked for a Mad Town Mondays ride tomorrow night?

Heads up, We're calling an audible and changing the route! The darkness isn't compatible with the number of busy crossings for the Sycamore Shuffle, so we'll save that one for next year when we have more light!

So this week we'll be looping through the Arboretum, taking a couple of laps of Bear Mound Park, and cruising past the Annie Stewart Fountain before heading back to for post ride hangs.

This route is a lot better for a casual cruise in the twilight and dusk. 13 miles at a social pace can't wait to see everyone!

Bring lights!!! Bring helmet!!! Bring flat kit!!

Tonight, Monday October 14th, the Monday 40 Flag Flies once more!!!

That's right, friends, Mad Town Mondays is gonna send off our great friend and the originator of the Monday Party Pace Ride !!! We'll miss her greatly, but we'll now have another reason to go explore up north!

If you've ever ridden the Monday 40, and you wanna party pace it with her one last time, tonight's the night!!!

Orton Park, 6pm rollout, Lake Loop with added Monona Bay fun!

Bring: Helmet, Lights (seriously, be visible!), flat kit

Post ride hangs:

Many of us left it all on the course on Sunday, so the party pace will be extra social slow!

Reminder for folks of our schedule for the month of October, and a look at the route we'll be riding on Monday evening!

This coming Monday, come explore the northeast side of town and the Sandburg Woods area! 14.7 miles and a pretty leisurely route, ending once again at .

As always, ride leaves at 6pm from Orton Park, and you'll need helmet, lights ( make your bikes stand out in the dark!) and a flat kit.

Route is here:

Looking further, we've also got two more lake loops this month, and a Sycamore Shuffle!

The next lake loop on 10/14 is our special edition Farwell ride. Please join us to send off our friend and the originator of the Monday 40, Madisons OG party Pace Monday ride!

The final lake loop in 10/28 is our Halloween costume contest ride! Join us for some goulish fun!

It's the last day of September, someone wake up that dude from Green Day (that will never get old, right?)

We're jumping on our extended fall calendar for our first Lake Loop in awhile, so let's make it a party lap and enjoy the super nice weather!

15 miles, party 12-14mph pace, we'll roll out as usual from Orton Park at 6pm, and once we get back, we'll hit up for post-ride hangs if you're so inclined!

Please remember to bring helmet and a flat kit, and from here on out, Lights are required to ride with us, as it's getting dark fast! Maybe find some party lights to add and make it super fun and flashy!

We'll be detouring around Monona Bay, and the Olin Park detour has some fresh pavement to take us tk the Wingra Underpass, so keep an eye out and follow the group!

Heads up! We had previously said that next week's 9/30 ride would be our last for the season, but we heard from many riders that they wanted to keep riding, so we're extending our schedule through the end of October!!!

We also heard folks who wanted a little bit more planning and regularity in their rides so we're gonna run October on an alternating format.

That means we'll be riding Lake Loops (with Monona Bay detour) on 9/30, 10/14 ('s special farewell MtM ride!) , and 10/28 for our special edition Halloween Costume contest ride (more details coming next week, start planning your costumes!)

As for 10/7 and 10/21? We're gonna run a couple of shorter but spicier rides to Sycamore park and Sandburg woods and back, so be ready to explore and have fun on more meandering routes (still all paved though)

Hopefully this helps people plan a bit more ahead. More consistency and lead time is a main goal for next year, rest assured!

All rides start at 6pm from Orton Park, helmet, lights, and flat kit required for riding! See you there!

Ready for Takeoff?

This week's Mad Town Mondays ride features a trip to the departures lane that has been dubbed "The Unfairport". Hope you have your TSA Precheck all set up, and rest assured your frequent flyer miles can be used for this one!

We'll shoot past the old Oscar Meyer plant, up to the far north side, around the airport and over to the Carpenter-ridgeway, Hawthorne, and Eastmorlans neighborhoods before doubling back to end our evening at !

15.6 miles, social party 12ish mph pace, pretty mild riding save for a few busier crossings that we'll try to manage to keep folks together.

Remember to bring a helmet and a flat kit!

LIGHTS are now needed for our rides as the end in darkness, so charge them, change the batteries and just generally make sure they're ready to go!

See you Monday night at 6pm, Orton Park!
