When it came to their big day, Jo and Andrew were clear about what they wanted – a small, elegant ceremony without all the usual fuss. No bridal party, just their closest people and laid-back, al fresco garden vibes!

was the perfect spot for their celebration as an intimate historic inn with a biergarten and speakeasy.

One of our favorite details was the seating chart with library card tags to give a nod to Andrew’s love for literature. Such a cool and unique touch!

Jo and Andrew’s day is one of our favorites of all time. From their unique engagement to a wedding day filled with personal touches, it was a joy to help bring their vision to life. It’s weddings like these that make us love what we do even more. Can’t wait to see where life takes these two next!

If there’s one thing we know at Olive Branch Events Co., it’s that hospitality is about so much more than just entertaining.

While I am a wedding planner, every November I love to reflect on Thanksgiving, hospitality, etc. because it really brings us back to our roots!

Hosting is an art of making people feel valued, seen, and at ease! Hospitality is about prioritizing connection and authenticity. When we focus on joy and community, we’re less likely to worry about flawless decor or orchestrated moments. Instead, we make space for laughter, stories, and memories.

💕 My biggest hosting tip: Don’t underestimate simplicity.
it’s the small things—like a warm greeting, thoughtful convos, cozy seating, accessible drinks, or a thoughtful menu—that make guests feel at home.

In the end, hospitality is about making space for the people we care about. J + B’s wedding was an effortless chic celebration, blending relaxed, organic elements with a clean, contemporary design.

We designed their wedding at the Edgewater with muted greens and soft shades of beige, bringing a sense of calm and sophistication to every corner.
Those greens added a hint of natural elegance, while the neutral tones kept everything timeless and refined.

And the cherry on top? Their custom newspaper program—brilliantly titled the “About Damn Times” was a sweet nod to the time they met at the student newspaper. 📰 😍

One of our most memorable weddings of the season included lion dancing and a lot of amazing Asian food (Deanna’s dream wedding).

What a freaking vibe Amanda and Eddie’s day was! One of the things we love most about our jobs is designing, and y’all it does NOT need to be super fancy or complicated! A wow-worthy wedding really needs BOTH good design and solid logistics.

When we originally spoke to Amanda, she said: “I want our wedding to be cozy and intimate. Our biggest priority is getting married so having a lavish party is NOT what we are looking for. I like the overall vibe to be simple and classic, highlighting some beautiful flowers and offering tasty food. Although I’d like the feel to be casual (small-scale, relaxed, playing music from a playlist, etc.) I’d like the aesthetic to be more elegant.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dreamy, right? So we got to work on designing their day! Their love for classic black and white and earth tones plus a love for vintage everything translated into a mid-century modern aesthetic that turned out so beautifully! And Amanda’s sister also happened to have the most GORGEOUS home we used as our getting ready space. It couldn’t have been a better fit!

And just like that, we made it to SIX YEARS OF BUSINESS! 🎉🎉🎉

If you’re a business owner, you know that this feels like a blink of an eye and also an eternity. 😅😅😅

The amount of growth and physical and mental labor put in the last six years are unmatched, but I am also very proud of all we’ve accomplished, and extremely grateful that I get to do it alongside some of the best people (on my team and in this industry).

I still remember the day I first started talking about starting a planning business with other business owners a few years ahead. TBH I didn’t know what I was doing, where to begin, and it seemed so extremely daunting. But then I learned that the hard part is really just starting - the rest just kinda happened...and though it’s been quite the ride, and there are certainly HARD HARD HARD days, I don’t regret a second of it!

I have met some of the COOLEST people!! And I have to say it feels so good to be an *expert* in something finally after all these years (but yet I learn something new every wedding!)

I have had some amazing opportunities that I never would have otherwise, and have also learned so many valuable lessons that I will never take for granted thanks to Olive Branch.
