It's starting to feel like spring out there. The hellebore are breaking ground, and soon the bleeding heart and lily of the valley will be as well. Hooray!

These freezing cold, dark days have me REALLY missing my garden πŸ˜”

I long for warm days and flowers to clip right outside my door.

This arrangement featured 'Queen Lime Orange' and 'Profusion Cherry' zinnias, 'Hot Biscuits' amaranthus, 'Burlesca', 'Rose Toscano' and 'Sandia Brocade' dahlias, 'Distant Drums' roses and a little bit of dyed eucalyptus.

Summer flowers, come back soon 🀎

When A reached out and asked for a bouquet and boutonniere for an elopement, I was instantly charmed by the peachy-pink, whimsical, garden inspired pics she sent my way.

It was such an honor to put together this pretty little number for her and B's special day. Thank you for trusting me with bringing your floral vision to life ❀️

Also, shout out to Jill for saving the day and providing me with the most stunning cosmos and anemone. They took this bouquet from just ok to *chef's kiss*

Sometimes you meet people in the wedding industry and feel so blessed that they crossed your path.

Monica is one of those people. She was my studiomate when we had our space on Atwood Ave and is the designer/seamstress extraordinaire behind Monirose Bespoke Gowns. We had such a lovely time working together on weddings over the years.

Fast forward to today, and she's baking the most amazing cookies from her home in Fitchburg . If you don't already, give her a follow and keep her in mind if you need custom cookies.

Let me tell you, they are as DELICIOUS as they are gorgeous. Plus she uses organic flour + sugar, local eggs + butter and natural/plant based coloring (no dyes!) Yum, yum, YUM!

Thank you so much for sharing these beauties with me ❀️ Now I'm going to go finish eating that one. It smelled so good when I opened the package I couldn't help myself πŸ˜†

If you've been a fan of my flowers for long, you'll know that a majority of the blooms I use are from my own garden or from other Midwest growers.

But sometimes I see a flower and I just have to get my hands on it. These imported 'Shiraz' spray roses from are a prime example of that. The pictures don't accurately portray how TINY they are. Each blossom measures only an inch to an inch and a half in size. The stems are dainty and delicate, so they dance and move beautifully in an arrangement. And the color. Don't get me started on the color. Each 10-stem bunch contains a mix of hues from buttercream to apricot to soft salmon and all blossoms have a deep dark pink center. They're magical and I'm so happy I brought a bunch in to use for A & B's wedding tomorrow ❀️

Huge thanks to for sharing an order with me so I could justify flying them in. I love our supportive Madison floral community SO much. The florists in Madison are all so wildly talented and willing to help each other, it makes me feel truly blessed.

Autumn has made a swift entrance around here. I've needed a sweater on our evening Winston walks and leaves are crunching under foot.

That being said, these sunrise colored dahlias are still making me feel like summer. Enjoying every last minute with the dahlias because they'll be gone before I know it.

I spent Friday touring the trial gardens at with other Wisconsin flower farmers. It was just the breath of fresh air I needed as I enter the busy late summer and fall flower season.

I saw so many "new-to-me" varieties and added a bunch of must haves to my plant order list. Taking time to adventure and discover new things with others who share my excitement for flowers is so energizing and inspiring.

Dahlia season is officially well underway! I've had over a dozen varieties bloom already this season and it's only mid-July. It's absolutely fantastic!

This beauty is called 'KA's Mocha Katie' and she is beyond spectacular. After two cancelled orders last year from different vendors, I finally managed to score a tuber from the sale this spring. I'm crossing my fingers that it produces plenty of tubers because I can't imagine not growing this beauty in the future 😍

I've had quite a few DM's about the dahlias I've been sharing in my stories the past 2 weeks, so I wanted to share how I have such plentiful early blooms:

First, I pot up as many of my tubers as I'm able to under grow lights in my basement in mid-April and wait to plant outside until soil is a minimum of 60Β°. Dahlias don't like cold soil, but I like having a head start for earlier blooms. It's a LOT of work, but it's worth it to me. The tubers that I didn't get a chance to pot up early are about a foot tall right now, and should start to bloom by the end of next month.

Second, I pinch my plants very early in the season. As soon as they have four sets of leaves I pinch out the center growing tip so they start to produce side shoots. This slightly delays blooms, but you get so many more flowers it's worth it.

Dahlias will be available from now until frost, and I am working on setting up some small scale dahlia classes in the garden in the coming weeks. Comment or DM to get added to the class notification list.

Sometimes my cooler hoarding of beautiful old blooms pays off...

Like when some of the first dahlias of the season are 'Lakeview Peach Fuzz' and I still have dreamy peonies and ranunculus leftover to create a magical mix of spring and summer 😍

This house. These gardens. It's A LOT, I'm not gonna lie. But damn, I'm so blessed to live this flower filled chaotic life.

This arrangement features astilbe 'Peach Blossom', 'Blue Angel' hosta flowers, feverfew tanacetum 'Vegmo Single', dahlia 'Lakeview Peach Fuzz', old fully blown open ranunculus, poppy pods, oxeye daisy, foxglove and an unknown peony variety that was here when we bought the house.

Last weekend my dear friend Laura at The Kind Flower invited me to a pottery sale downtown on the lake. I stumbled upon this stunning ceramic bowl by and knew it had to come home with me.

It's such a beautiful piece, and today I took a break from planting (yes, I'm still planting - this neverending rain has me weeks behind my normal schedule) to design something for our kitchen.

Flowers blooming, digging in the dirt, birds chirping, bees buzzing...these are the things getting me through these days.

This arrangement includes cimicifuga (actaea) racemosa, old blown open ranunculus, yarrow 'Sassy Summer Taffy', roses 'Distant Drums' and 'Abraham Darby', lonicera (honeysuckle) 'Gold Flame', heuchera 'Little Cuties Blondie' and the first dahlia variety to bloom this year 'Jitterbug' - all from my garden.

What's most gorgeous in the garden today:

Foxglove, poppies, mint, fleabane, astilbe, dogwood, garlic scapes and yarrow, plus a couple dry packed peonies and leftover ranunculus, along with some imported orange spray roses for a pop of brighter color.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Picked the last of the ranunculus this morning and pulled the corms out in between showers. They should have been left in the ground for a couple more weeks to die off naturally, but bed space is limited in our tiny yard, so out they came to make room for the next crop.

I've got a plethora of pretty blooms in the cooler (all from the garden - including the last ranunculus and peonies of the season), so DM me if you want a floral pick me up! After this, things will slow down until zinnias and dahlias start producing in a few weeks.

This little mini features ranunculus, feverfew, astrantia, astilbe, garlic scapes and honeysuckle.

There isn't much in bloom in the yard yet, but in a couple weeks it will really be spectacular. There are so many buds beginning to form.

Here's a little sampling of what IS flowering at the moment after a quick stroll through the garden tonight: hellebore (two unnamed seedling varieties), tete a tete narcissus (mini daffodils), hyacinth and muscari πŸ’™

The prettiest little tray of bouts and corsages from M & S's wedding day long ago. More tweedia inspiration because my seedlings have germinated and I'm so excited!!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Mine will be filled with consults, more seeding and lots of time in the garden weeding out scilla and aegopodium - the invasives that just won't go away.
