Last weekend at the Haras Fall Dressage USDF show, Polonia DC took 1st place & Reserve Champion with scores of 70 on Saturday and 69.86 on Sunday. Pekin DC placed 2nd with scores of 69.16 and 69.72. A great finish to the season!

Last weekend at the HDS Laborious Day Show 2024 was a triumph! 🎉 Our team shone brightly with Pekín DC taking 1st place and earning the highest score with an incredible 75.13% and 71.11%! 🏆 Polonia DC with 74.16% and 73.47% secured 2nd place, and Portugal DC with 71.66% and 71.66% rounded out the podium in 3rd. Proud of our horses and the entire team for their dedication and hard work!

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Haras Dos Cavaleiros, we believe that when we share our love and knowledge of this ancient breed of horse with the public, we are also making the ancient culture of Portugal available to a wider audience. Through equestrian clinics and demonstrations at important shows and events, or through visits to our ranch, we welcome you to enjoy the beauty of these extraordinary horses, nurtured by a landscape created especially for them.

HISTORY

More than a decade ago, after getting to know and appreciate several other breeds, our equine journey led us to the Lusitano, the historic breed that is the wellspring of what we have come to call “The Join us and Live the Haras Experience.” We fell in love with this fabled breed, one of the oldest in the world, referred to by many aficionados as The Royal Horse of Europe. With the construction of our new ranch in Texas, we are now writing our own history in America. Here, we are keeping alive the legend of the first Lusitano horses, sons of Zephyr, the Greek God of the West Wind. As the story goes, in a certain season in the province of Lusitania (ancient Portugal) Zephyr fertilized a group of mares along the coast near Lisbon. The foals of these mares inherited all the qualities of the West Wind: speed, beauty, strength and nobility. At Haras Dos Cavaleiros, we continue to breed, honor and enjoy these “Sons of the Wind”, the pure bred Lusitano horse.
