Family First
The Walking Sun began its journey in 2015 after the birth of our middle daughter. Originally named Comfy’s Corner, we worked from a home studio, selling 100% handmade pillows with offbeat felt phrases. Our goal was to provide enough financial stability to allow both of us to stay home full time with our daughters so neither of us would have to miss out on every small moment. It rapidly grew from pillows made out of our bedroom closet, to tee-shirts, tote bags, decals, wood signs, flower boxes, and banners all created in a full home studio.
We moved to CT in 2017 before the birth of our youngest daughter, seeking more help from nearby family, and found ourselves outgrowing our home work space. We had reached an emotional fork in the road: Whether or not to keep our handmade goods business going, or give the community a chance to benefit from the incredible process of creating their own quality and custom projects.
After taking a rare opportunity to lease a space in the country’s oldest wool mill site, The Walking Sun has officially been converted into a full and family-friendly DIY arts and crafts studio, with 15+ art projects, kid’s drop-off programs, sensory exploration classes, and fun weekly events for EVERYONE ages 1+.
