I was born in Dallas and grew up throughout the cities in the DFW Metro, so I'm very familiar with the area. My childhood was not the best in any regards and was full of many life challenges, but I always looked at the positive aspect of life and continued to trudge on. Due to the circumstances of life I had to drop out of high school in the 10th grade to help support my mother and sister. Shortly there after the good Lord blessed me with the love my life and a daughter. I had to grow and mature fast but I didn't mind for God has trusted me with another life. So for years I focused on raising our new family and the years flew by with the Lord blessing us with new additions of 2 boys. At this point I decided to obtain my High school certificate and attend college to obtain a certification in Phlebotomy. Within a year I accomplished this and gained employment at Baylor All Saints. The entire time I was achieving this I had severe back pain and as the years past the pain would intensify. In AUGUST** 2010, while at work I had a blackout spell that Baylor declared a minor heart attack, since I was on 90 day probation this caused me to be suspended from work and ultimately caused me to lose my job. The next couple of years my health was deteriorating and consisted of lots of doctor visits and misdiagnosis ranging from RA, Fibromyalgia, etc... It was one fateful night in March 2013 that I had a blackout episode that landed me in the ER and they declared it as gastritis, but my husband and I felt it had something to do with my kidneys. The following day we went to my P*P and that's when they discovered it was a lump on my kidney. I had a partial nephrectomy in May 2013 but required another procedure in June 2013. During the next 6 months recovery was tough, I still continued to suffer from sporadic blackouts and was very ill some days to the point that I couldn't get out bed. My husband was there by my side especially when I was the only one available to watch the kids and couldn't so he would use his sick time to help us out. In November 2013 I decided enough was enough and I couldn't let my body dictate my life. I decided it was time to go back to school for my passion of fashion, but I was told that my high school certification wasn't accredited and I would have to obtain my GED. Through determination, lots of studying, help from my husband, and faith in God I persevered and obtained my GED by the end of December 2013. Life was looking great at that time, even though all my children were sick, including I, with the flu so my husband had to once again take time off to take care of all of us. After we all were almost over it, my husband got sick himself and his employer would not let him come to work because he had the flu causing him to go over the allotted sick time and causing him to lose his job during the second week of January 2014. We both reflected on our lives and the paths we have walked through during our journey together. I still continue to suffer in pain on a daily basis and require further testing, but since he lost his job we no longer have insurance and currently can't afford insurance yet. So we had to think on what our next step will be and even though times are getting tough he's so happy to see how excited and full of joy I am because I found my passion. With that in mind we came to the decision of starting my own business, Tori's Secret - Airbrush Makeup & More.
